Yeah, probably. I saw Eddie Izzard, Al Murray and Jo Brand up above the EDT back in the 90s.

Another one who is amazed at how old the cars look and would have guessed it was footage from 1988 not 1998!

But then, of course, most inhabitants of ED in 1998 would have been modest of income and driving an old car anyway.

When we moved here in 1996 we drove a 1988 Astra (F Reg in old money).

I'd add Graham Norton & Phil Jupitas to that list too

Yes that sounds about right to me

He did something about "You kings, you kings" and sawing which I shall never forget, in case that helps anybody who thinks he might have done more than one gig at the EDT :))

re dating - the following certainly confirms a date in or post 1996

The aspiration was to provide a bus along the length of Underhill Road, and this was partly achieved from early in 1996 as the P13 was diverted along Upland Road and Underhill Road. It became possible to serve the full length of Underhill Road later that year, although buses towards Streatham have to make a small diversion via Melfort (sic) Road due to turning restrictions.

I definitely saw Sean Lock at the EDT, probably around 1995.

I also saw Eddie Izzard do impro show probably 1995ish - it was warm-up for his West End run and the queue stretched down Lordship Lane. It is possible that Nunhead legend Lewis Schaffer opened for him.

Hi everyone, I made this film, I was driving and my wife was filming, so I can assure everyone this was filmed in 1998. We used to live in one of the Prefabs in Underhill Road from 1953 to 1970, in 1998 I took my Dad back to East Dulwich for a trip down memory lane.

All the best, John Chinery

    • A shout out for Mark, owner of Pure Plumbers. 07970 971510 They're well established in the Sevenoaks area, but have recently started doing more work in SE London.  Did some v quick and efficient bathroom and boiler fixes for me; have also seen some of the bathrooms he's built, which have a nice attention to detail. • Totally agree regarding not supporting chains. Gail’s was fine but last time I went in Feb this year, actually walked out Fayetteville looking at menu and waiting 15 minutes to even get glass of water and not busy at all. Staff gone down hill - sooner it goes the better… Always prefer to support non chains - so many lovely places with good food to choose from with pleasant staff who know about customer service and sadly, non English which says a lot for our culture, pubs are also becoming abit of a hit and miss affair but maybe just unlucky. At the end of the day all about the chef. Still abit unclear where new place is located - is it down the road from Goose Green where parade of shops are before Peckham Rye?
    • Surely only where the local businesses offer clear advantages, otherwise you are rewarding what should be failure. I want to be served by a better bakery than Gail's, not a worse but local independent one. Certainly give a local independent some time to get the offer right, but don't buy goods which are worse and or more expensive just because the outlet isn't a chain.
    • Let’s just boycott all chains in favour of local businesses.  Places like Gail’s popping up everywhere has a very damaging impact on small businesses. It’s just the same as the new empanadas place but on a bigger scale. I’ll say it a million times more, we hold the power with our choices. Let’s use our power to look after ourselves and our environment (which includes small local family businesses). And yes, I also love Chacarero.
