newboots
Another one who is amazed at how old the cars look and would have guessed it was footage from 1988 not 1998! But then, of course, most inhabitants of ED in 1998 would have been modest of income and driving an old car anyway. When we moved here in 1996 we drove a 1988 Astra (F Reg in old money). newboots
I saw Eddie Izzard at EDT but didn't move here til 96. I'd say 97 or 98. Otta
I'd gone up to Liverpool by September 96 so either it was first half of 96 or I saw an earlier appearance. Know it was when I was Sixth Form and shouldn't strictly have been in the pub (turned 18 July 96). newboots
Anyone remember the "Celebrity" pub quiz in the room above The Magdala? We went a few times. Andy Smart was one of the slebs. Aww fond memories of slightly rough and ready ED. Belle
I went to that pub quiz at the Magdala - it was Stephen Frost I think but didn't Art Malik do it once?! Now in Homeland. Otta
DEFINITELY later than 92 for me, I know I was in sixth form. He probably played there a few times. They all used to do their Edinburgh prep shows there. Also saw Graham Norton and THINK I saw Sean Lock but could be wrong. Penguin68
re dating - the following certainly confirms a date in or post 1996The aspiration was to provide a bus along the length of Underhill Road, and this was partly achieved from early in 1996 as the P13 was diverted along Upland Road and Underhill Road. It became possible to serve the full length of Underhill Road later that year, although buses towards Streatham have to make a small diversion via Melfort (sic) Road due to turning restrictions. newboots
Yes, come to think of it, when I saw Eddie Izzard at the EDT he was already a bit of a star and there was quite a kerfuffle about him coming to our lowly neighbourhood. adonirum
OttaThink you are right about Sean Lock. If I am at my sister's and he is on T.V. she always states how she saw him there and she also mentions Harry Hill appearing there. sandyman
I definitely saw Sean Lock at the EDT, probably around 1995.I also saw Eddie Izzard do impro show probably 1995ish - it was warm-up for his West End run and the queue stretched down Lordship Lane. It is possible that Nunhead legend Lewis Schaffer opened for him. JOHNNYBOY
Hi everyone, I made this film, I was driving and my wife was filming, so I can assure everyone this was filmed in 1998. We used to live in one of the Prefabs in Underhill Road from 1953 to 1970, in 1998 I took my Dad back to East Dulwich for a trip down memory lane. All the best, John Chinery Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/52070-a-short-trip-through-east-dulwich-98/page/2/#findComment-803924 Share on other sites
