Yep f##ing makes me so angry! There's really no need for Heathrow air traffic control to send every plane over the same for path they could easily spread them over a wider area and make our lives more bearable.

First plane is from Hong Kong. It normally lands around 04:30am, but arrives even earlier with tailwinds :-(

By the way, to all these people making no difference whether the Heathrow bound planes fly above us or not, have a listen this morning ! So quiet :-) !

It doesn't show up on http://webtrak5.bksv.com/lhr4. The first plane shown in our vicinity yesterday morning was LX345 LHR->ZRH, flying east over Thornton Heath at 06:16, at 10,000 feet. There were four more in the following hour, all also eastbound at 5-9,000 feet and no more north than Penge.

http://www.heathrow.com/arrivals shows first arrival BA032 from HK, at 04:49. I went back to Webtrak to check it. It came in over New Barnet and started a U-turn over Marlow to land.

Nonsense.. Planes into Heathrow normally fly 5 miles apart.. but can be as close as 3 miles.

So 5 miles in 20 secs.. 15 miles a min. 900 mph.

3 miles in 20 secs.. 9 miles a min. 540 mph.

I do not think so.

Planes are usually 1.5 - 2 mins apart.

5 miles in 1.5 mins. 200mph

5 miles in 2.0 mins .150pmh

That is more realist for an aircraft on final approach.

I've timed it before and Fox is right. Around every two minutes peak time Sunday during the summer. Very busy flight path today. Woke me up around 6am this morning and it's been pretty much continuous ever since. It also being very warm and leaving windows open to keep cool doesn't help.

Peckham is not that sensible and is hosting events which it cannot manage. It either needs to reimagine the event planning AND/OR manage how the park is treated and ensure damage is not done that is irreparable

    • I think you're missing the point; this is one of the most popular parts of the park, and after a month of being inaccessible it is now effectively unusable - who would want to sit in the middle of that mess? And yes, they could do 'remedial' works, but it will take months to get back to some kind of acceptable condition, and then the summer has gone. You say "some" of it looks trifling, which means a lot of it isn't - deep corrugations from the trackway etc. The fact is that GALA are unable to return the site to us in the same condition, or better, than it was before - another lie that they spouted just to secure a licence and placate those tiresome 'locals'. So, again, why should we have to put up with this, every year? PS they also haven't cleared away the yellow event road signs yet either - another thing they promised they would do better / quicker this year...
