well, yes. 25 hours of gp appts would mean, I suppose 5 doing 5 hours worth a day or 4 doing 6 hours a day (which sounds a bit intense). I don't know what is considered normal for gp hours a day devoted to appts. If less than 5 or 6 hours then you'd need more gps on duty. The surgery is vey well equipped with consulting rooms so one assumes that was factored in when they planned and built the practice...

I have a few friends who are GPs (for some reason had a lot of medic friends at uni), they seem to work 8-9hr days. Which on the face of it just sounds like a normal day's work, but then you realise that they can't take coffee breaks, or waste time posting junk on internet forums!

Yes, indeed! My calculations are rather bizarrely and unreasonably harsh and assume an appt every 10 minutes for 6 hours which can't be right! And, of course there is other work that isn't seeing patients - letters, reports meetings etc etc etc. I don't think the GPs there aren't working hard enough I just think there might not be enough of them given the numbers of registered patients.

I just clicked on the red link to register at the top of their website, which says "Register via our online registration form", and it links to a page with tabs for non English speakers, temporary residents, contact details (of the surgery), careers and practice policies!


But absolutely no way to register via an online registration form!


I tried the "Appointments" menu and "New ways to book appointments", and there is apparently no way there to register either.


Can anybody help? Am I in the wrong place or on the wrong website? I'm using this one:

This website does however have a link enabling you to register to receive text message reminders - which according to someone above they no longer send out :(


ETA: Ah, OK, I see it's via a different link "Book appointments online".


Somebody needs to get the website together ....

Well, I "successfully" booked an appointment for Thursday, which is good.


However it was confirmed before I had finished entering the reason for the appointment, so whoever reads it will be a bit surprised by "numb fr" - I couldn't go back to correct it ..... numb fingers if anyone is wondering ..... :(

You're kidding, right? A business with over 10,000 registered users and all the profit streams that come their way should be able to get their act together to provide a decent working website without relying on their own patients to volunteer their time to help them with their IT issues!

All they've got to do is go through their website bit by bit and ascertain:


1. What links are not linking to the correct part of the website


2. What information is out of date and needs updating


3. What information should be on there but isn't (if any)


4. What links are apparently in more than one part of the home page but linking to different places



Then it would probably take a web designer not more than a couple of hours' work to put things right.


I too don't see why somebody should do this voluntarily.

Agree, they probably don't have the skills. But they have the money to hire someone who does have the skills, just like any other business needing assistance with their website!

A web designer doesn't just work in the dark!


They design a website according to the needs of the client!


The skills required are technical skills, which surely only come into play once the client decides what is required.


In this case, the website is basically there already. It just needs somebody from DMC to go through each bit of it and identify errors (including links going to the wrong place), omissions and duplication. It doesn't need somebody with any technical skills to do that!


Where the technical skills come in is then translating the required amendments into the techie language, html or javascript or whatever.

*face palm* worst mistake I ever made was leaving Villa Street Medical practice in the middle of the Aylesbury estate walworth, now that's a practice with some serious mullah behind them - I never waited in my life for an appointment and they even had a tropical diseases section too, so I got my malaria tablets for my hols in a jiffy!

For me consistent problem submit online repeats requests.

Many occasions now ring 48 hours later to chemist to check prescription threw.

To hear nothing recieved call dmc not done see nothimg.

I'm logged clearly is in system.


Then told as running out get gp do as urgent

Then that's usally it sorted.

But ask any issues online system yes afraid we do.


Rather say that outright than accuse patients not actually submitting request.

Such stress on me when so unwell.

My partner ended up going to surgery as staff hung up on him wasn't rude.

Blatant lying saying didn't say such such.



Fact is still lack gps only 1 full te gp.

Always submit my number in case medical query several times is but no call.

Have ring them when go collect my medicine at chemist to find either not done or items missing.


To then be told was query had tell my hospital consultant issues dmc pharmacist keeps refusing give me repeat medications that consultant prescribed.


He has had to

twice now write to gp ask my medication not be altered without his permission.

So that was sorted.


Now actual appointment care can.not fault, .

Been there since 2002.

Do give feedback patients participants group.


Also had hospital letters sent no follow on care responding to consultants changes in care.

Which used get letters for.

Give them credit last week did call me say gp found letter and discussed how could follow on care.


Hope they also being monitored.

Could it be that somebody in the practice has made a typo when entering your details?


If say there was a letter wrong in your surnames, or a digit wrong in the house number, then there wouldn't be a match.

I've also tried and failed. I've tried 'old' and new postcodes. I've tried the two varying surnames of household members etc. etc. And also failed to register ... again.

I think it might be a bigger issue than that. The same happened when I tried to register, but the receptionist read back my details to confirm I was definitely on their records. He said I can sort it out when I go in. I got the impression this has been a common occurrence.

Sounds like they need to get all their IT systems thoroughly overhauled by someone who knows what they're doing.

It would be interesting to know if the other practices using this online registration system (I noticed the Gardens and Nunhead on there whilst searching for DMC) have similar issues!

I think the "does not match your records thing" when trying to register for online services is "normal". It happened to me and I had to go into the surgery to fill in a form and they were able to register me for online services then. So, a bit tedious, but, certainly in may case, it wasn't that my details weren't held correctly

Convened by The Hague Group and co-chaired by the governments of Colombia and South Africa, the Emergency Conference on Palestine brought together 30 states for two days of intensive deliberation — and emerged with a concrete, coordinated six-point plan to restrain Israel’s war machine and uphold international law. States took up the call from their host, Colombian President and Progressive International Council Member Gustavo Petro, who had urged them to be “protagonists together.” Twelve governments signed onto the measures immediately. The rest now have a deadline: 20 September 2025, on the eve of the United Nations General Assembly. The unprecedented six measures commit states to:     Prevent military and dual use exports to Israel.     Refuse Israeli weapons transfers at their ports.     Prevent vessels carrying weapons to Israel under their national flags.     Review all public contracts to prevent public institutions and funds from supporting Israel’s illegal occupation.     Pursue justice for international crimes.     Support universal jurisdiction to hold perpetrators accountable. “We came to Bogotá to make history — and we did,” said Colombian President Gustavo Petro. “Together, we have begun the work of ending the era of impunity. These measures show that we will no longer allow international law to be treated as optional, or Palestinian life as disposable.” The measures are not symbolic. They are grounded in binding obligations under international law — including the International Court of Justice’s July 2024 advisory opinion declaring Israel’s occupation unlawful, and September 2024’s UN General Assembly Resolution ES-10/24, which gave states a 12-month deadline to act. UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory Francesca Albanese called them “a momentous step forward.” “The Hague Group was born to advance international law in an era of impunity,” said South Africa’s Foreign Minister, Ronald Lamola. “The measures adopted in Bogotá show that we are serious — and that coordinated state action is possible.” The response from Washington was swift — and revealing. In a threatening statement to journalists, a US State Department spokesperson accused The Hague Group of “seeking to isolate Israel” and warned that the US would “aggressively defend our interests, our military, and our allies, including Israel, from such coordinated legal and diplomatic” actions. But instead of deterring action, the threats have only clarified the stakes. In Bogotá, states did not flinch. They acted — and they invite the world to join them. The deadline for further states to take up the measures is now two months away. And with it, the pressure is mounting for governments across the world — from Brazil to Ireland, Chile to Spain — to match words with action. As Albanese said, “the clock is now ticking for states — from Europe to the Arab world and beyond — to join them.” This is not a moment to observe. It is a moment to act. Share the Joint Statement from Bogotá and popularise the six measures. Write to your elected representative and your government and demand they sign on before 20 September. History was made in Bogotá. Now, it’s up to all of us to ensure it becomes reality, that Palestinian life is not disposable and international law is not optional. The era of impunity is coming to an end. Palestine is not alone. In solidarity, The Progressive International Secretariat  
    • Most countries charge for entry to museums and galleries, often a different rate for locals (tax payers) and foreign nationals. The National Gallery could do this, also places like the Museums in South Kensington, the British Library and other tax-funded institutions. Many cities abroad add a tourist tax to hotel bills. It means tourists help pay for public services.
    • Having just been to Co-op to redeem a 50p off Co-op members' card voucher on an item that is now 50p more than it was last week, Tesco can't come soon enough
    • Surely that depends on the amount.  It can be quite piffling.
