I've met him a couple of times too, and he seems a perfectly nice fella.

I have accused him of stirring on here before, and he does get offended quite easily, but he is also quite funny. I hope he returns.

He's done Narnia. Perhaps MiddleEarth next...

I'm not letting that lie. Outside now.

What.. move a Thread to another Forum Section after 8 years...

Don't think so.

DulwichFox

There was more than one thread where AM was treated unfairly.

I just wish I'd said something at the time or at least sent him a PM to check he was ok.

Hopefully when he reads this thread he'll realise that the majority of people miss him and want him to return asap.

alas poor declan i knew him weel. Well I met him about 3 times, and a lovely chap, with a delightful wife, he'll be happy enough without grief from the forum.

plus you know, the 'alan medic' is dead, long live the 'alan mice maid'

reading many of RPC posts maybe I'm inured to her tone. She definitely ragged on "Alan" without provocation but most people would normally dismiss her post as over reaction.

Aquarius wants to point fingers at the forum but I suspect the main problem is offline

My reasons for missing him are entirely selfish, splendid chap though he is - a regular on the betting thread, regular on FF (and a fan of BFS) and a worthy adversary in the 100s game. Plus, one less sniper to hit the next 100 on the CC thread..... which will make it harder

wot SJ said, I suspect

Maybe, but adding fuel to the fire doesn't help does it?!

But such is life AQ surely?

All of us post on here knowing full well we may encounter people and opinions which may not be helpful to us (and vice versa) but we still do it. Sometimes it all becomes a bit much and we step away

And that's not only ok, but probably a good thing

    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
