Just a quick one, as I go off the train tonight & crossed the road to Costcutter ( 24 hours ) for some processed supper, a pair of clowns tried to abduct me for purposes unknown.I heard about this , but never thought it would happen to me

Luckily I fought them off and they escaped in the direction of LL in a multi coloured retro car with oversised horn, belching steam from its bonnet & its doors hanging off.

They are both about 5ft 10, have big red shoes, bowler hats with the brims hanging off , curiously short tartan trousers & white faces with exaggerated rictus painted grins

Please be careful out there - if they ask you to smell their plastic lapel flowers, call the police

???? I don't think you should be making flippant remarks about this until we have the full facts at our disposal. I'm on the school run tomorrow morning so will ask the Lollipop Lady what code alert she's on, and will report back.

In the meantime, keep a bucket of confetti handy at your front doors, just in case.

I got into my car this morning. Turned the key and the all 4 doors popped off, closely followed by the bonnet and the boot door. Neighbours tell me that they saw a suspiciously pale man in a pointy hat and spangle jump suit loitering nearby late last night.
Please don't be too hard on the clowns. They have it really bad, you know. I am not supporting their behaviour, but there's nothing for them to do, you know. They can't get jobs, have to deal with their afflictions (size 17 feet, bright red noses and those rictus grins) and feel alienated. Have a heart, Snorky (or if not, at least a squirty flower).

I think you're missing the point Mike... this is a very serious matter. Just thank the good lord that snorky's one step ahead of the rest of us!

Clowns? Don?t talk to me about clowns. You lot don?t know you?re born the sort of clowns you have these days.

In my day we had proper clowns. Respectful as well. Tip their hat to you they would before slamming a pale of whitewash over your head and booting you out in front of a bus with an oversized shoe.

A proper bus too. Not one of these bendy things. Don?t know you?re born being hit by one of them. Ever seen a bendy bus with an oversized shoe anyway? Ridiculous.

    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
