I was born in Hammersmith and have lived all over the country. My alleigance to Liverpool stems from my Mum and her family all coming from Crosby and obviously supporting the reds. Not sure if that's a good enough reason, but it's been the reason all my life...:))

Well I'm from Leeds and supported them since Don Revie days. Still support them even though we have ignominiously been relegated to Div 1. (Hurrah Millwall at the Den next season). I can't understand why people born in London don't support London teams (apart from Chelsea obviously). ps. my dear departed dad a scouser who couldn't understand why all his kids (born in Leeds) didn't support Liverpool!

Growing up in ireland in the 70s everyone was a man u or liverpool fan. I became an arsenal fan partly because i was contrary even then but more likely they had 6 irish players and manager

Hello Fellow Gooners, I have been a supporter since the irish days back in 1977 when I was 8 years young. My Mother bought a mini model of Charlie George from East Street market. It was great just paying ?1.10 to stand on the north Bank in crowds of 57,000 against Liverpool back in the eighties. This season has seen a massive transition with young players making their mark on the cup scene and playing big roles in the premiereship.

It's great to be in contact with gooners in ED after 13 years of living around here!

I am another gooner girl now living in East Dulwich, there are a few about, went to the game yesterday ( gutted we missed the opportunity to beat Chelsea, but satisfying to know we stopped them winning premiership!) quite a few gooners seemed to get off the train on way home.

No more home games till next season, can't wait till it all starts again.

Yes, very good result for both of us last night. Europe beckons for the Spurs again and it's bye bye Charlton. I wouldn't worry too much about the Hammers game at Old Trafford because I think Sheffield Utd will stuff Wigan and, well after the result against Bolton at the weekend I reckon you're pretty safe. Best of luck though, just in case.

I'm a Sheffield United supporter and I am certainly not expecting anyone to get "stuffed" at Bramall Lane on Sunday: I reckon it will it be pretty grim, much like the recent game against Watford. Obviously I want us to win - but, like a lot of other premier league club supporters, will not shed that many tears if we lose 1-0 and West Ham get stuffed and deservedly relegated at Old Trafford.

You're probably right SimonM, it will be a tough game as you're both in the relegation mire but I feel that Wigan are in freefall and the Blades should survive along with West Ham. We'll see next Sunday though. Anything can happen in football as you probably well know.

With no World Cup or Euro Championships to look forward to this summer. I shall be having serious withdrawal symptoms well before next season begins.

Mind you, I thought Fulham were in freefall (actually I've been resigned to West Ham relegationidge for substantial portions of this season), but as you say, anything can happen.

Summer months are survivable. I hugely recommend the Hurling which Mrs O'Mockney introduced me to.

I reckon a couple of 20-20s down the oval should also help to ease the pain.

Please could someone explain why Arsenal supporters are called gooners. Is it something like "because chanting gunners sounds like gooners"?

I've no idea Mark. Being a Spurs fan I usually refer to them as The Scum or Arsene Wenger's Foreign Legion.

I have just found out that both the Man Utd v West Ham and Sheff Utd v Wigan games are being televised live by Sky. We are due to arrive in Harrogate for a week early on Sunday afternoon and I have yet to inform SWMBO that I have already lcoated two Harrogate pubs with big Skyports screens.....:)-D>:D

For the record my best mate at uni was a huge Owls fan and his little brother a Blade, and my mate would delight in going off on painfully researched diatribes to belittle his brother's chosen team.

I can honestly say I've wasted no opportunity to give Lawrie a thumbs up when seeing him in recent years at how much he must be enjoying rubbing his older brother's nose in it these days.

I agree with you Jah, I do enjoy other sports, but nothing is quite the same as the footy! That said, Rugby Union can be great, but it's more fun to play...... Ah memories of6 r 7 years ago when I was actually fit.... :(

I could never play footy, I definitely have 2 left feet, but it's a great sport to watch, which is why it's the biggest sport around the world!
