Taken on it's on and eaten as part of a balanced diet there is nothing wrong with a Big Mac and fries. If you look at the nutritional content of McDonalds meals they are all created with balance in mind. Sure they may be loaded with calories but so is a curry and I note that there is an ED curry club. The Morgan Spurlock film Supersize Me, in which he ate nothing but McDonalds for a month, breakfast, lunch and dinner did end up with him being overweight and having increased blood pressure and cholesterol etc. but I'm sure you would get the same effect eating nothing but pizza or cheap ready made meals from Iceland. I know for a fact that with regards to the beef used, McDonalds use nothing but top grade British beef with no fillers or cereals added.

No I don't work for McD's and I don't work for them as PR or anything like that.

@Louisa - I'm not sure how you can pass comment like that without having met me (or have you?).

1am, 4am, 5.30am, 7am... all the same to me these days! grrrr

" I know for a fact that with regards to the beef used, McDonalds use nothing but top grade British beef with no fillers or cereals added."

Not having a go at MaccyD here - but given the statement above, the burger should taste a little more beefburgery no?

Like McCain's chips - nothing but fresh potatoes. Frozen

So why if I use fresh potatoes and freeze them, do they taste nothing like that?

Something else is afoot

SJ, Have you ever taken the burger out, scraped it cleanish and tried it? I haven't either, but for me, the meat in a Maccas burger just adds chewyness. The hamburger tastes of their very sweet breat and their sauce.

But I do believe their premium burgers "big tasty" et al are made with much better quality meat.

But lately I have gone right off maccas for anything other than McMuffins, which I love!

Birds. Look, I like you and all. You brighten up a sunny day with your cheerful chirruping and I will happily chase cats out of our garden so they don't threaten the robins nesting in our tree. But, BUT, what, at the first glimmer of light, is the dawn chorus all about?

I mean, really? You all have to get together and scream your soddin' beaks off?

If the neighbours had a party that loud at four in the morning I'd be phoning the council.

Sort it out will ya, it's just plain antisocial.

    • Kwik Fit buggered up an A/C leak diagnosis for me (saying there wasn't one, when there was) and sold a regas. The vehicle had to be taken to an A/C specialist for condensor replacement and a further regas. Not impressed.
    • Yes, these are all good points. I agree with you, that division has led us down dangerous paths in the past. And I deplore any kind of racism (as I think you probably know).  But I feel that a lot of the current wave of xenophobia we're witnessing is actually more about a general malaise and discontent. I know non-white people around here who are surprisingly vocal about immigrants - legal or otherwise. I think this feeling transcends skin colour for a lot of people and isn't as simple as, say, the Jew hatred of the 1930s or the Irish and Black racism that we saw laterally. I think people feel ignored and looked down upon.  What you don't realise, Sephiroth, is that I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying. I just think that looking down on people because of their voting history and opinions is self-defeating. And that's where Labour's getting it wrong and Reform is reaping the rewards.
    • @Sephiroth you made some interesting points on the economy, on the Lammy thread. Thought it worth broadening the discussion. Reeves (irrespective of her financial competence) clearly was too downbeat on things when Labour came into power. But could there have been more honesty on the liklihood of taxes going up (which they have done, and will do in any case due to the freezing of personal allowances).  It may have been a silly commitment not to do this, but were you damned if you do and damned if you don't?
    • I'd quit this thread, let those who just want to slag Labour off have their own thread.  Your views on the economy are worth debating.  I'm just stunned how there wasn't this level of noise with the last government.  I could try to get some dirt on Badenoch but she is pointless  Whilst I am not a fan of the Daily Mirror at least there is some respite from Labour bashing. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/grenfell-hillsborough-families-make-powerful-36175862 https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/nigel-farage-facing-parliamentary-investigation-36188612
