Constantly reading threads about shops opening/closing, coffee shops opening/closing.

What is this going to be? What is that going to be?

People obsessing about what they've heard or are dying to know.

Like another certain designer outlet or restaurant chain arriving will have such a big impact on their lives.

I just don't get it at all.

Aren't there more important things in life to worry about?

People who think everyone wants to hear their extremely loud, hands free, phone conversation on the 19.39pm train from London Victoria when you've spent the last 11hours at work listening to other people having very loud phone conversations in your office.
I once saw someone from a local butcher's do that as they walked out of the newsagent's that was next door at the time. Ever since I've felt uneasy about how that attitude might translate into hygiene at work and he's still there so I think it every time I go in. Strange how one individual act several years ago still colours how I see their business.

It's not just fag packets though is it. Cans of drink, takeaway food etc etc. I tend to show them where the bin is. I hate litter bugs.

Trying to think of an existing butchers shop that used to have a newsagent's next door .

What is in place of the newsagents now ? ( hasten to add that I am not interested in new shops etc ,just trying to identify butchers ) I know of one that smells badly ,though meat purchased there has never done me any harm .

like any columnist (for that is what he is really) he has good days and bad days.

On the no voting thing I think he was a bit misunderstood. He was saying the current crop of self-interested shag-sacks do not deserve the validation that a vote directly implies.

He was saying that there are other ways to engage politically, and that one of them should be campaigning for genuine political reform.

He was promoting benign civil disobedience rather than apathy.

Actually he was sputing a lot of rubbish, but being generous to him i think this was what he was trying to get at.

I'm not entirely against the idea, either you engage those that feel disenfranchised with a workable alternative that they *will* vote for or you attack the system that entrenches power in vested interests.

UKIP very successful at the former, even if they're tilting at the wrong windmills, blame the EU for he ravages of globalism on one of the few bodies working to protect the little people from it, whilst championing the usual suspects that are at the root of it all, deregulation, privatisation, end to workers rights, minimum wage and so on.

I went through a period of despising the bolloxy botoxy prat but he's back in my charts now mainly because I think he means every word he says even if it is a bit bananas, and he runs rings around all those airhead American presenters who are totally in thrall to him.

I also like the mad eyed Messiah look.

Not keen on the ubiquitous 'I'm an ex junkie' schtick.

However he's an eccentric Englishman which is a very good thing and I prefer him to just about every politician.

    • Changing subject, slightly.. what is taking over from what was cheese shop.. ? • what type of car was it, if they are in demand, might be helpful info.
    • Which has, unfortunately, closed. Au Ciel is much better than Gail's. Big bakery in the parade of shops near Rocca in Dulwich Village with all the seats outside - you can't miss it. Normally a big queue outside at weekends with walkers and cyclists topping up on carbs and coffee!
    • Hi, just to say there was an attempted car theft at the FH end of Underhill over Friday night. Without wanting to go into all the detail, they were pretty adamant and took a great deal of time to (try) take the car. The police came within minutes, and drove around etc.. The police said the car was in demand at the moment. I don’t know if that was brand or model. notwithstanding what the police said, all car owners should be vigilant and neighbours. These thieves were interrupted twice by neighbours, but the thieves came back etc and the neighbours didn’t put 2+2 together as to what was happening to the car. The thieves were two guys, on the cctv it looked like they were wearing grey, but it may have been black (cctv can look odd at night). My neighbours said they were black. They had a bag with them, no doubt carrying tools and they may have been dropped off by a car, that is being investigated.  Take care!!
