I'm not sure Quids.


'Y' is normally appended to nouns to turn them into adjectives. The consequent word means 'having the condition or quality' of the original noun.


Hence a 'groupy' person, would be a person with the quality of a group. Not quite this context.


In 'groupie', I believe that the 'ie' is to signify a dimunitive (reductive) quality - as in 'one part of a group, not the whole'.


Same dimmunitive quality found in laddie, lassie, hoodie, mountie, junkie, oldie, aussie, commie, goalie etc.


If all else fails, go for common usage. 'Groupy' won't find any references to Groupies, as the word was first used in the lates 60s in pop literature, and was spelt groupie.

oh pooh i can't make this Friday! I was looking forward to meeting up again with the chums I made last time - at the Lodge upstairs at EDT - my first time at the Forum drinks.


but I'm working at Southbank Centre this friday eve. dammit! have lots of fun - and have a drink for me ... :) hopefully see you in June!

Its not a very big pub so look for the largest group in the place. We also normally tell the bar staff who we are, and in previous forum drinks threads there are links to photos.


Also - if you look for a blonde woman attached to a large glass of Pinot Grigio - that will be Georgia :))

      I personally think is a great idea Bobbly and would love if there was a section for it. I wouldn't offer free gardening under the "for sale" section as I would expect something in exchange and wouldn't expect our cat being looked after for free under the "wanted" section, as an example.

      I have fond memories of Govinda's I used to go there  back in the 90's (maybe earlier) for an affordable tasty lunch..I was wondering if its still around. Now I have to make a point of going there. Does anyone else remember a really affordable basement cafe run by the church in a street off of Golden Square? parallel to Regent Street? I also used to love the Vegetarian cafe on Neal Street in the basement (Neal Street Cafe?) and there was an inczredible inexpensive authentic Japanese resturant I use to go to with my Japanese friends (who introduced me to it) tucked away behind Long Acre where that brown brick modern building ('modern' I think it went up in the 90's!) now stands that fronts Long Acre and Neal Street..I think it was called Asakasa or something?

      I wonder where he could be deported to, Hungary the obvious candidate in Europe, perhaps he would get on well with Modi?   Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage both said Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood should look at whether Abd El Fattah's citizenship could be revoked to enable his swift removal from the UK. Farage said in a letter to Mahmood: "It should go without saying that anyone who possesses racist and anti-British views such as those of [Mr Abd El Fattah] should not be allowed into the UK." So just racists views are ok Nige?
