Saw the great man himself this morning, directing the scaffolding and taking snaps. Was overcome by uncharacteristic shyness otherwise I would have gone up to him and mumbled something vaguely sycophantic. [Actually, I couldn't for the life of me remember his name.]

Stan met with the Deputy Head of St John's and St Clement's school this morning, to discuss the involvement of the children in repainting the mural. The staff and the governors, as well the children, are keen that the school should be involved. The Governors met last night, discussed the mural and were enthusiastic, having apparently been made aware of the plans through updates on the EDF!

Stan also met with Father Charles from St John's Church this morning.

There seems to be an all round enthusiaasm for the project, and plans are falling into place. Stan said he would provide me with a more detailed update on the meeting this morning and on the next steps, and I'll post the notes on here when he does.

PGC, say hello to him when you see him next. Very approachable, and a fund of fascinating stories about artists old and new.

    • I know people won’t have any sympathy but the SEND challenge was brought up when taxing parents who have opted for independent school to meet a child’s SEND needs. Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
