Bloody auto complete....or in EDF junkie jargon, a quick fix in the train station loos...

I started this thread for a reason:

I'm praising a particular group because I like them. They are the nicest people on the EDF and deserve to be told so.

Some can be annoying because they make a simple comment, know that they might be lighting a fuse, and mayhem follows.

Then there are the ones that bear the brunt of the unpleasant comments. Some, a lot of the time. Others, occasionally.

If they are having a bad day or are feeling down, only to receive nasty, snide comments when they decide to visit the forum, that is hardly going to make them feel better is it?

If people can quite happily do this to others, I wouldn't want to know them in the real world.

And the rude ones? Well sometimes it's easier to pretend they haven't seen a post, but if someone asked them a question face to face, they would answer - not ignore.

I'm sure others find this frustrating.

So I started this to make people think. Just thinking before you post can make such a difference, especially if you are just about to upset somebody with your next comment.

Everybody here has feelings.

I can hold my own/give as good as I get during a discussion/difference of opinion but I did make a thoughtless, uncalled-for remark once which has now been deleted because it's nothing to be proud of.

Yes, I could easily put names into groups (as suggested), but that isn't going to happen. After reading regulars posts on a daily basis for 5 years, I do have quite a good idea about the person behind the username. I know others do too.

Most will know what group/groups they fall into. Some won't care. Some will. It takes all sorts to make a forum!

And if this thread makes me sanctimonious, so be it. I would sooner be that, than bury my head in the sand and turn a blind eye.

If I feel that something needs saying to make things better, I say it. End of.

Feel the love :)

Haha, no.

I was talking about the type of poster that claims they're being bullied as soon as anyone disagrees with them.

"Well excuse me for having an opinion on my area, clearly not allowed with the EDF clique" type thing.

    • Closing down completely. The lovely people there are all retiring. Thanks, but Deptford is a long way to go to make two journeys to  take and collect a car! Do they not do even relatively minor repairs if it fails its MOT first time? Then that would require four journeys 😭 Wondering if there's already a thread on here for garage recommendations? People on my road WhatsApp group have recommended some local ones.
    • I did think that might be the reason, but five years out of seven it's going to be a weekday (I think. Not sure how leap years might affect things!)
    • Probably because the 5th was a weekday. We still have the weekend to come. Also, some fireworks going off nearly every night for the last few months. Last night something was being let off that made a very deep booming noise every 10 seconds or so. That said, if the general public are beginning to see the harm done by firework noise and choosing to use low noise options and refusing to support organised events that still use the full throttle type, I for one would be very happy. Does anyone know if the Herne Hill Velodrome Halloween fireworks event used low noise options?
