Hmmm, I like Rio, that song by Alanis, Joe's "IGBWALHFMF" and Light my Fire!

I normally hate all songs by U2 but once found myself driving from LA to San Francisco on Highway 1 - somewhere by Santa Barbara I think - as the sun was going down over the Pacific and New Years Day by U2 came on the radio and it was sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Of course, The Dame is quite simply inviolate.

exactly... novelty records in general... Mr Blobby, The Chicken Song, Grandma we love you, Barbie Girl, anything by the Cheeky Girls... you know the kind of thing.

Lots of the songs people have listed it's more about a matter of personal taste than total lack of talent. Which is not to say you can't detest things because it's not your taste, but there are some much much worse things out there that I could list than most of the things people have named.

My pet hate would be bad covers... if the original is good, leave it alone unless you really have something to add (and most people don't). (Come to that if it is bad, why cover it?) Covering Beatles songs is generally a bad plan - I can remember my sister liking a particularly dire cover of Strawberry Fields by Candy Flip, who I've (thankfully) never heard of again.

Oh, and Madonna's version of American Pie was indigestible rubbish too.

that was quite posibly the worst cover version in history.

Although All Saints ( It think it was them) did a cover of Under the Bridge which makes me want to slam my toe in a door.

Yes, it was them. Personally I'd slam their toes in a door rather than my own, but I know what you mean :-)

"yabadee, yabba da, yabbadee yabbada,,,but she's homeless, she's homeless" and other sentimental awful melody shite.....thanks a bundle for reminding me

Man, she was HOMELESS quids, bloody homeless, and yet she stands there, singing for money. How can the pathos not touch you deep inside..?

Afternoon Delight I actually have a heartfelt soft spot for. As for not liking any song with hero in the title, don't come down to Lucky 7s when i'm on, or I'll have a rare treat for you, sure I will. And it won't be one of my cheesy wotsits

    • Big recommendation for Stephen Viccary who has created a magnificent bathroom for us. Quality of work is absolutely top notch. We couldn't be happier - see pics.  Stephen is considerate and tidy meaning working from home during the work was fine (some noise - obviously, it is a demo and installation after all. He does not work on multiple jobs, does a full days work and does ALL the work himself - Tiling, plumbing, lighting (including lighting on a motion sensor under the vanity and in the shower niche - for night time visits 😉), he even changed the door architraves, sorted the badly cracked ceiling and did all the paint work. A full end to end service. Stephen's number - 07941 266 145
    • Highly recommend Dulwich Eco Gardening.  When he came to quote Saied said he’d give our garden back so we could decide what we do next.  Under two weeks of hard work from Saied and Mo and we have the garden back and can see paving I’d forgotten about. Not only did Saied remove our very overgrown greenery. Nature had taken over. He also took back to our fence line overgrown ivy, apple and pear trees and and dealt with a neighbours bamboo that had invaded our garden.  We are now going to get quotes for what we do next so those quoting will be able to see the space.  Saied has suggested someone to quote and will be coming back when he does in case he has any questions or they can work together.  I thought Saied would be a good choice and he was. Quotes from others didn’t leave me with confidence for the end result. That was never a concern with Saied.
    • Having a BBQ (fingers crossed) in 2 weeks and need a small BBQ for veggie bits and any spare benches or garden tables and chairs to borrow to add to mine. Any going? Thanks in advance...
