After much lubricated discussion the following is proposed:

EDF drinkies on the FIRST FRIDAY OF EVERY MONTH - that ensures that the salaried will have been paid in the previous 7 days.

Venues to rotate - happy to accept offers and inducements from local hostelries that will attract 20 plus civilised heavy drinkers to your establishments with the resulting follow on business and positive public discussion :)-D

Georgia and I are happy to coordinate - within reason.

Thoughts?

Yup. The idea was for an introductory message to new members about the forum and its doings:

Brief history

Purpose of the various areas

Culture i.e. we are nice to each other even in disagreement

The traditional greeting and response

The EDF Drinkie

Stuff

hello - I've recently stumbled upon the EDF - what a great idea.

I'd love to come along and meet everyone and to try a new pub - I've been in east dulwich for a couple of years now and have never heard of the gowlett! i get paid on the last working day of the month and, after mortgage, should just about have enough for a night on the beers on the 1st.....:)-D

    • Do you know who organised and ran it? Because it must have been quite a lot of work. Who kept track of the credits? What safeguards were they? Was there a lower age limit eg over 18? Was insurance needed? ID? Who checked it? What was the situation if somebody was injured while working in your house or garden? What if someone broke or stole something? What if someone in your house was molested or attacked? What if you weren't happy with the standard of work? Sorry to be gloomy, but whilst this sounds a great idea in theory, in common with many people I know I've had several  bad experiences with supposedly professional tradespeople, let alone someone who wasn't doing it for a living.
