What the best/quickest/least disturbing journey for me to get to from East Dulwich to Farringdon/Clerkenwell road to be there at around 8:15 am?

37 bus to Herne Hill then train?

Denmark Hill train to Blackfriars then to Farringdon?

63 Bus from Peckham Rye to Farringdon?

Is it also the best route if I want to be there at 9am?

thanks

ED station to Tulse Hill and direct to F'don.

Which takes you into zone 3. It is frustrating that you have to pay more to go this route. Out of the rush hour you can go ED -> London Bridge -> Farringdon but the Thameslink service doesnt go via LD during the rush hour.

Ah, does it Andrew - I must confess I've never paid the Zone 3 premium.

I wonder if the ticket reads 'by any reasonable route' and would overcome this Zone 3 fug?

I even sit in First Class, as everyone else is too polite, or like to hug each other, or something.

ok, so I did the 07:21 East Dulwich > Tulse Hill -> Farringdon route this morning and it was fine, into work (first full day at new job) at 8:10. Thanks Huguenot.

Returned via the 63 to the Rye as it didn't involve any changing of transport. That was fine too (can't wait to get back on the scooter tomorrow though).

There are many ways, but my instinct would be to do the train straight to London Bridge, then a 521 which would take you to Holborn Viaduct. Thereafter, a 2 minute walk. I'm guessing this entire manouevre (?sp) would take about 30 or 40 minutes.
  • 2 weeks later...

Nothing mahjor to add here - but I will be starting this very same commute at the end of the month so is very useful and timely. Mark I hope the new job is going well.

Will road-test (and rail-test I guess) the 63 and the train via tulse hill option in the coming weeks - will be good when the trains start accepting the pre-pay oyster cards so that I can go whichever way I feel like in the morning. Does anyone know if there is a date for that happening?
