Washing machines - help!

Hello,

I need to buy a new washing machine on a budget of about ?250 max, and I don't know anything about which makes are best! Beko, Indesit, Hotpoint, Whirlpoor, Haier - anyone got any advice or recommendations about which are good and which to avoid?

Things like Hotpoint and Whirlpool are good names, but to be honest, a washing machine is a washing machine IMO.

Oh, and ?250 will easily buy you a good one.

I'd prob suggest not going for the newest model out. Means nothing when thinking if it'll last any longer and not be prone to faults.

Do you want it to dry as well? A new one's definitely a good option if it's got a good warranty and will probably last longer than a used one. It's worth have a check of

Having said that I bought one for ?50 from someone on this forum and it's fine.

Try subscribing to Which. I think they usually give you a free trial period of a few days - plenty of time to research your washing machine and then cancel before you have to cough up.

Answer: Is to ask a local man who spends his life repairing them. And you may wish to give this gentleman a call.

Cliff reckons Bosch is best and whilst usually pricey you can occasionally get them for ?250 on sale if you look around hard. Heis also brilliant at fixing them in SE22 / SE15 if you have any problems.....

Within reason you get what you pay for. Like all things german, it performs well and gets the job done without complaint :))

If budget is a concern I believe the Heart Foundation Charity on Old Kent Road (about 500 yards from Tesco) sells refurbished white goods at reasonable prices. If you get three / four years worth for ?75 you're well ahead. Many makes available.
