Both, as I mentioned in another thread, try Dave from Plastercare 07932 505589.

Local and reliable chap, who knows his stuff, will identify the problem (did for us anyway) and won't charge the world. Dealt with several damp companies, all of whom simply wanted inject damp proof course throughout the whole house.

Paul Morris from Abbey Independent Surveys. 01572 774398 or 07714 659616.

He offered us some low cost solutions which have worked. I know he does a lot of restoration work for the National Trust so he understands historic building practices including those which were used in your average London Victorian terraced house. The survey isn't free but you will get an honest opinion verses the free survey guys who come round and tell you to inject every wall in your house for ?10,000s.

Also a big recommendation for Dave Reilly from Plastercare who came to my house in SE22 at short notice and made a free inspected and diagnosed cause of 2 isolated patches of damp and made recommendations of how to rectify them at a realistic and reasonable cost. His work is guaranteed for 10 years too. Nice guy as well. Definitely recommended. 07932 505589

I too recommend Dave Reilly. He was fantastic about communicating - both about quotes for different options re the work I needed and about confirming when he was coming. He and his colleagues worked really hard and were totally reliable. Great job !
I also can highly recommend Dave Reilly from Plastercare 07932505589, when we were buying our house he came out to inspect the damp problem and provide a reasonable quote and upon completion he undertook the work and the cost was less then the quote. He did a fantastic job.

Dave Reilly has just finished some re-plastering and damp fixing at my house. I can highly recommend him. He was quick, efficient and also tidy! We're getting him back to do some other bits and pieces around the house.

I've used some of the national damp specialists people in the past and I've always had the feeling that they're quoting me for work that doesn't really need doing... I didn't get the same with Dave and as I've said, I will be using him again.

Got the recommendation for Dave Reilly (PlasterCare) on the forum and very happy to add a recommendation for him. He came and sorted out our damp problem this week. Turned up when he said he would, identified the problem and didn't try and push work that didn't need doing, worked quickly, left the house in great shape and very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

I would also like to recommend Dave Reilly.

I found his details on the forum and he came and had a look, and did some work for me this week.

He tells it how it is, no guff - which is refreshing in itself, and he is very experienced and knowledgeable about all things relating to damp (also refreshing).

I've had a few people reviewing/reporting on/guessing/quoting on our issue and he made the most sense and suggested the least disruptive way of resolving it. When we did the work, it revealed the problem, pretty much as he had diagnosed it would be. He works diligently and respects the space as a home (as opposed to a building site).

Whoever you are talking to, get Dave in for a second/third/fourth opinion before you go off and do the wrong thing with the wrong team.

I would also like to recommend Dave Reilly. He always arrives promptly, and answers my emails immediately. His quote was much cheaper than any of the national companies, and he was much more knowledgeable.

He did a very thorough assessment, including my neighbours' properties.

I had a lot of quotes for damp work, all giving different causes. Dave was honest and reliable.

    • Hi there, Our Lexus NX300H, (reg RF18BWO) was stolen off our driveway last night, Monday 27th October. It was there at 9pm, and had gone by 7am. If anyone has any footage on their doorbell or Ring, that would be super helpful. We have asked some neighbours and reported to the police etc.  Most upsettingly, there was a box of old family videos in the car boot, in an old Sainsburys box (photo attached). If anyone sees these dumped at the side of the road, please contact me asap! They are priceless videos that my deceased grandparents took. Thank you for any info, Jojo
    • Another shout out for Milk & More - their app allows you to alter the order, add or subtract to it and also to schedule holiday stops without having to leave messages in bottle - so more secure. You do have to set up a direct debit with them, but I haven't had any problems with that myself. I have had one or two missed or late deliveries in several years, but not really a problem - only very occasional and caused mainly by delivery-person illness. And very much feels like an old-fashioned milk delivery. They do special seasonal offers as well. More expensive than the cheapest of the super market milk prices, but for that its at your door, fresh and no bother.
    • Enjoying the nostalgia and memories.  As with others, we get ours through Milk and More (is part of big co, so there is that against it, but it's hardly a secret/niche thing) - returnable glass bottles of milk, orange juice, yoghurt, and much more besides (as per the name). And yes it comes in the middle of the night in an electric vehicle. So can still get out nostalgia fix, doubled when the Riverford chap comes too.
    • This sounds like what goes on at Tessa Jowell GP surgery as well as others.   If you can flag yourself up as a ‘vulnerable’ patient or one that can’t use Apps for whatever reason etc then you can usually make appts by phone. They would have to make allowances. Quote the Equality Act 2010,  reasonable adjustments section.
