bob
Thank's To James for all his Effort, the reply from them was pathetic, I have phoned that customer line many times and used the link 3 times with the result of two reference No's. They say that they are not aware of an issue with Silvester rd sorting office and no report's of missing mail, if there is a problem contact east dulwich direct, that is not true look at the queue out side on Saterday mornings, the post office do not answer the phone and severn pages over 5334 posts on this forum are all about nothing? some one should be taken to court, is missing mail a criminal offence? if so who should be prosecuted. No post for 2 days, got some to day dated 7th and 8th still waiting for an over due Barclays bill.???????????????????????????????????Bob S Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8412-missing-post-in-east-dulwich-especially-lordship-lane-not-strike-related/page/9/#findComment-285656 Share on other sites
Penguin68
Bob wrote and severn pages over 5334 posts on this forum are all about nothing? - actually there are 195 (with this 196) posts on this topic - and 5200 and some views. That's still a lot, of course; particularly when a significant majority of the posts (by my reckoning) actually list new individual problems with the mail, but we mustn't over-egg the pudding on this one.In the past Christmas post chaos has normally come back to normal by mid January - even with the poor weather we have been having, which has clearly disrupted deliveries, what we are experiencing sits well outside 'normality', and doesn't just appear to be a single 'bad' round - which can happen with sickness and cover - but is pervasive, ubiquitous and systemic across the ED postal area. Penguin68
Amazon deliveriesI was told by the guy at the counter in Sylvester Road today that they have a shed load of Amazon stuff to deliver; it will be going out today (Saturday) and tomorrow - apparently (I didn't know this) Amazon despatch is on the far side of the Severn Bridge, and recent inclemency has caused a backlog - his advice if I was expecting an overdue item (I am) is to get excited on Monday if it hadn't been delivered over the weekend, but to wait till then.Thought you might like to know Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8412-missing-post-in-east-dulwich-especially-lordship-lane-not-strike-related/page/9/#findComment-286190 Share on other sites
louisiana
At present:- I'm getting misdelivered post almost every time the post person calls. Yesterday and the day before, for example, which were the only two days this week I've received post, I was handed envelopes clearly and correctly addressed to a completely different part of East Dulwich- I'm getting Recorded Delivery 7 days after it is handed over to the Mail- Out of 13 packages expected since 3 January (from different suppliers), I've received just 3 so far.But I have to say things haven't been much better than that for months (since September). And at least the current postie (we seem to get so many different ones) does not stride through the earth in my garden border, squashing and killing my plants, as the last one did. Penguin68
ianr wrote; Did he give any indication of when the shedload began arriving in ED...?No he didn't,but I understood that it had all arrived together and recently, presumably from the district sorting office up-stream and that they had worked out a delivery solution for it (today and tomorrow) - I got no impression that they had been stockpiling stuff at Sylvester Road. I have had (on the days they delivered this week) a goodly pile of stuff delivered, and for the first time since September I got a weekly magazine on the day it should have been delivered. I also got stuff delivered within 24 hours from its known date of desptach. Sansoo2
So glad to hear that it's not only me. I live in Tyrrell Rd and since beginning of December I've noticed that quite a bit of post doesn't seem to arrive. I've had to report at least 4 DVDs from Lovefilm that didn't turn up and if I think about it I know there were a few Christmas cards and monthly statements that didn't arrive either. And I only received post on 2 days last week and yet I'm expecting 2 or 3 bits of regular mail. I was putting it down to backlog from postal strikes, Christmas, weather etc but am now realising that there's something more suspect.Am about to use the Royal Mail link to complain and can only hope that if enough of us complain they will do something. PeckhamRose
Can't be arsed to start a new thread but just to say this morning - a SUNDAY - I was woken up rudely early at 10.30am with a recorded delivery to sign for! And then later we also had a regular postal delivery.Sunday!Poor posties! Alex K
And now, "me three" -- a parcel this morning, by Royal Mail (Sunday! Royal Mail!) about which I'd rung the shipper with my concerns only the day before. Really it does seem that a backlog may be dissipating. katie1997
...and someone on Barry Road will be missing post this week as I have had two wrongly delivered letters (same house number but that is where the similarity ends - wrong road). I don't know how they can confuse matters.....and I have received precious little post myself since I moved here :( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8412-missing-post-in-east-dulwich-especially-lordship-lane-not-strike-related/page/9/#findComment-286474 Share on other sites
James Barber
Sunday post deliveries and recorded delivery. Batches of delayed post being cleared. Perhaps our complaining efforts are having an effect.Weirdly the Channel4 reporter has stopped calling me and the post seems to be getting back to what we'd hope would be normal. Fingers crossed. Jamma
I too received a parcel on Sunday, posted ten days earlier. Could give the Royal Mail the benefit of the doubt and put it down to the weather. If I didn't live in an area with an endemic post problem. If one pays for something and it doesn't do what it should you are entitled to a new thing. If someone pays to send me a parcel first class and it doesn't turn up for ten days surely that sender must be due some sort of recompense? snowylady
I have had 3 DVDs from love film, one set of photos, and bills and card statements not through.I have received a reminder for my utility bill...and I have still not yet received the actual bill. This has been WEEKS since I know some of these went out (we're talking late december) and I'm quite frankly, appalled. ultrauk
I live on Lordship lane & have commented on this thread before. My postman is now becoming just pure lazy. He leaves all the post half sticking out of the letter box EVERY time so when i get home or have been away its still there! Still got missing statements too. This is great advert for a thief. If you have a strong spring, weaken it so that it is more inviting to him to risk pushing letters all the way through. Penguin68
Removed the spring completly did'nt help one jot. Then you've done all you can to make your own house deliverable to. Have you thought of leaving a note posted to the door addressed to the postman asking him/ her to deliver fully to you - perhaps noting that the box doesn't have a dangerous spring? Sometimes asking people does help. I'm assuming you are not normally there in the mid to late morning when you probably have your delivery to speak personally. If there was anyone 'in management' in Sylvester Road I'd suggest speaking to them, but I don't believe there is manager based there.
