  1. Good luck to them I say. Beat us in a fantastic tie, and it's an English team.
  2. Will more than likely pop to CPT, but not til about half 9. Will arrange something proper when all settled...
  3. Thanks all. David, I'll never be able to afford a round again, are you mad! TT, why wait, buy me a shot tonight, I'm definitely not going home and sitting on my own!
  4. Discussion topic. What do people, especially you West Ham fans, think of John Terry's claim that fans should be willing to take a bit of stick back from players that they are giving stick to? I hate to say it, and it will not become a habit, but to a point I agree. I think if I was getting a load of stick, and I scored, I'd want to give a wave to the people giving me abuse. That said, there has to be some professionalism, and sense used, 2 things that Terry knows little about, because he's basically an ignorant thug.
  5. Cool!
  6. I was there too, and I think Declan is correct. She seemed to be okay though considering. Hope she's alright today.
  7. Well done EDT! So, does Sooth Radio transmit outside of Dulwich and Forest Hill?
  8. Spurs came out for the second half looking scared, and handed that game to United. Have to say that that was never a penalty though. Keeper got the ball from what I could see, and it changed the game.
  9. TillieTrotter, because she can be mightily reassuring!

I have just read that after all this time, they're making a film of The Mysterious Cities of Gold, and 3 brand new series! Just as long as they keep the original theme tune! I remembered another one. !
  11. Good luck you bunch of total utter mentalists! :)-D
  12. I am loathed to raise the H word again after the other week, but frankly Matthew, the above line made me instantly think of; Yeah, because they're the same. Basically, in this day and age, football is big business, and players are professionals, being paid to do a job (even if that job is playing a game). They owe nothing to the fans really, it's like people in a pub saying "I pay your wages" to bar staff, it's basically not true. Yes it's nice when a player spends his entire career at his first club, like Giggs at Man U, but that is not an easy thing to do, and in this day and age, it is very rare.
  13. PS. Don't want to sound insensitive, and I'm sorry to hear about that Rob. Bless the CPT, hero of pubs! :)-D
  14. Where would a safter area be? If you're anywhere in London, this can happen. This forum is great in many ways, but one negative is that when something like this is reported (and I'm not saying it shouldn't be), it raises fear.
  15. Harsh at the end there, but I'm generally with red devil on this subject.
  16. Surely they should put the plaque on the bit of road where the car happened to be parked... I think it's just some knob trying to up the value of his house.
  17. I'm not even sure about this, some players do it (Macca for Liverpool), but I'm still not sure how wrong it is. If you sign a 5 year deal, and work for those 5 years without complaining or looking elsewhere, then you've kept your word. I do think you should be honest to your club and say I'm off at the end of my deal, rather than "stalling" on signing a new deal, and letting the clock run down. As red devil says though, anywhere else in the working world, people go where they can get the best deal. Footballers earn silly money whever they are, but they're in a different reality to us, so I guess they feel that ?20k a week isn't enough, if someone else is offering ?40k.
  18. She's a she. I watched the first episode of The Corner last night. Not polished like The Wire, but you can see the quality was there.
  19. Is that meant to be in any order? How is Michael Owen even in the list, let alone number 3??? The guy is what, 28? And has had 3 clubs in some 11 years. He left Liverpool for a chance to play in Madrid, that went badly, and they flogged him to Newcastle. I wouldn't call him a mercenary at all! Some players get sold, because that is football these days. A mercenary is someone who starts making noises about leaving when things are going bad, or when they think they can get more money. Owen is in a relegation scrap, and has said nothing about wanting to jump ship. If they go down, he'll be sold whether he asks for it or not, but who could blame him if he did, any player who can stay in the prem will do! (well most, some might be mega loyal to a boyhood club or something)

Sorry for delay, only just seen this, but basically I agree fully with it. I think there should be less uni places, just so long as it's the most talented / bright kids filling them... Problem will still be that the kids in the expensive private secondary schools will get the best grades, and all get places, leaving the rest to scrap for what is left, but there you go.

Yes, the poorest kids perhaps, but what about those who aren't exactly poor, but who's parents don't have the extra money for uni? I was about the second to last year to get the old style grants, and withut them, I'd have had no chance of going anywhere!

Mick I'm interested to know how you'd cut back on uni education? I agree with what you say about it in theory, but how do you avoid it going back to rich kids going, and poorer kids missing out?
  24. 10 point penalty dished out to poor old Southampton. I don't get punishing clubs for having financial problems, talk about kick a man when he's down!
