  1. Just wanted to say thanks for all the suggestions.... We had a really nice evening - met the Yank for a drink at Pride of Spitalfields - he loved it as he loves traditional english pubs - not so much my cup of tea - I'd have liked to try Carnivale - but another time! We had a couple of drinks in there, then headed for Tayyabs - I rang ahead to make sure they could fit us in - they said yes - arrived just after 9pm - there was a queue so we had to wait for about 10 - 15 mins then were seated... I have to say I was actually expecting amazing things - maybe for it to be more like Ganapati - with unusual indian food but it was pretty standard dishes. The service left something to be desired however - the staff were very rushed and we felt pressured into making our choices, even though they had run out of some of the choices - but then at the end of the meal it took us nearly 20 minutes to get our bill. It was nice food - but I actually thought some it as it was pretty oily, and the pilau rice was only OK - the mixed grill we had as a started was great though - pretty spicy lamb koftas, tender chicken tikka and lamb chops, and one of the mains was a minced lamb in sauce which was pretty yummy too! The other dishes though had a good pool of oil swimming in them. So - all in all, I'm pleased we tried it out and I would go back again if I was in the area but I'm not sure I'd make a special trip for a curry there! Ally "Maschler" Cat !!!
  2. Hmm - I was wondering about Tayyabs - he's a good friend so I'm not to worried about the wow factor! Is it far to walk? Like the look of both Carnivale and The Pride of Spitalfields - thanks!
  3. I've just arranged to have dinner with an American chum this evening and meeting him in the Brick Lane area... has anyone got any suggestions for a good pub/bar to meet in followed by a decent curry? I know there are masses along there so am hoping for recommendations! Thanks!
  4. Sorry - but I don't think its particularly nice to disparage a venue when other people have already agreed to go there.
  5. So - is this still on for this Wednesday? Michael P - can you change the date on the title of the thread if so?? And who's up for coming? Lets make it a good one!

  8. I can do Mon/Tues/Weds next week........ anyone else?
  9. Really sorry but have just realised I've double booked myself and am heading out for sushi on Wednesday night so can't come now :( Any chance we might be able to re-schedule as there seem to be a few others that might be interested in coming along but can't make Weds either?
  10. I can't do Monday or Tuesday..... So far that seems that Wednesday is best?
  11. Me too... although I'm not to keen on queueing to get into a restaurant..... :-S
  12. Just to throw it out there... how about us trying a curry house a little further afield..... there is a good one in Forest Hill - or Mr P has said there is a good one in Honor Oak - Babur? Anyhow - just a thought....
  13. Hi again Barry..... is there any chance of having a couple more benches/seats being put on platform 3 at Peckham Rye? Thank you
  14. What did you and your invisible friend have for dinner then?!
  15. Sorry Chief Bhuna - it's a no from me too.... Tuesdays are no good for us...
  16. Thanks for the advice... my dress came in a white plastic dress bag which folds over (sounds like yours Pickle) but I didn't know if they would let me have that as hand luggage... I like the idea of the boxes but they are so flippin' expensive! Traveling with BA - so I hope they are nice to us!
  17. I used to deal with a picture agency in Manchester where my contact was Wayne Ankers.... And there is also a chap in Liverpool who owns a studio called Wing Wong..... Makes me smile every time I have to ring him!
  18. Has anyone had to take their wedding dress abroad before? We're flying to Bermuda next week for our wedding blessing and I don't want to put my dress in the hold of the plane - I'd rather have it as my hand luggage.... has anyone any advice on how it's best transported - in a large suit carrier or a small suitcase - or maybe a box? Any advice gratefully received...... Thank you!
  19. Hi Barry The ticket machine at Peckham Rye is not working for Oyster Cards..... is it possible to get this fixed please? Thank you!
  20. Yay!!! I'll be there - and no doubt the Onion :-$will want to burn his tastebuds off as usual!
  21. As a left-hander I use my knife in my left hand and a fork in my right - not so easy with a proper fish knife though - the blade ends up on the wrong side!
  22. Not sure the Onion is going to be making this one sadly - I've left him at home under a duvet on the sofa...... he's not well... and I'm still on the pre-wedding diet so no curry for me :( Sorry guys x
  23. Happy Birthday Mr Lush - have a good one! Cat & Onion xxx
