  1. I think you may have missed the buckets of treacle like bitter irony I swamped that post, following some criticism in the other music thread and the threads to avoid thread. ;-) Luckily only we merry band of few ever read this thread, so noone need ever know. Here's a good'un by White Denim. Nice to see that old 70s style rock back in fashion, not sure who kicked it off, Kings of Leon, White Stripes? But with People like Comets on Fire and Wolfmother around, its a good time for it. All you really have to do
  2. Happy to trade for Fable II of that interests you as I don't think I'm far from finishing it. I've a couple of the johnny come lately Lara Croft things, lots of racing games, GOW1, Bioshock, COD4 and more all up for some swappage.
  3. Got Fallout 3 yesterday, or Oblivion Apocalypse as it should be called, or perhaps Deus Ex 3? Am undecided, but have a feeling should have gone with Bon3yard's recommendation.
  4. Here's your list of the people he owes big time. No oilmen, lots of media, Ivy League academia and banking http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/contrib.php?cycle=2008&cid=N00009638 No sign of Bernie Ecclestone though!!
  5. That's pretty much what I have (with wii fit) Metacritic is a pretty reliable review compilation site and always good for checking stuff out (music and film included) Here are the best reviewed Wii games in order. http://www.metacritic.com/games/wii/scores/ I do have Zelda which if you've never played will either make you go 'Uh?' or open a whole new wonderful world for you. If you're a long term fan, as I am, it's actually the game where you begin to get pretty tired of the whole unchanged 20 yar old formula.
  6. As it happens, he's denied ever supporting West Ham in some GQ interview. All IS lost!!!!!
  7. You go Giggirl!
  8. A ha, Firle
  9. What's that village in Sussex that does an effigy every year that gets them into trouble? I think their most notorious was the caravan with the registration P1K3Y.

  13. I have to say I wasn't fooled by TB for even a split second, and I don't see BO being anywhere near as bad. Having said that I'm not going to be naive about this. He needed to capture the centre ground, and has been moving steadily rightwards for a good 18 months, courted the banks and big business in order to fund his campaign. That said he's espoused multilateralism, has stuck to his guns on eliminating those tax breaks for the super-rich, ain't in hock to any lobby groups, and seems unconcerned with basically being an ingrate or a celebrity, so my outlook remains optimistic; but they do so love to disappoint.
  14. "debatable." I'd say that was debatable ;-P
  15. "We can ignore the Bush hawks and the neocons for the next four years" Does this mean I never have to listen to Richard Perle's poison ever again..please oh please!?!
  16. Not ot mention the girls behind me, I've been guilty of talking at gigs in the past, but generally if you have Sonic Youth levels of Feedback going on. Last night was so quiet and gentle I think the band could have heard them. Amazed there are photos up already, hooray for people taking their cameras!
  17. Huzzah, here's hoping he lives up to the hope Obama represents and promises and brings genuine change rather than a different tone to the same old same old. Have just watched the speeches, despite the McCain campaign becoming rather nasty and divisive, you got the feeling McCain wasn't entirely comfortable with it, and I have to say it's quite a heart-warming and conciliatory speech he gives, though clearly not appreciated by some in the crowd.
  18. Label mates: Devics - A Message To You Howling Bells - Broken Bones (rubs thighs)
  19. Their first album was a sort of psychedelic beach boys, but I really love the follow up The Trials of Van Occupanther. There's more than a smidgeon of the Mac in there, I'd place them a bit closer to Steely Dan though myself. In fact just about anything on the Bella Union label is usually at least worth checking out.
  20. I'm almost loathe to post here as it's all a load of made-up elitist nonsense that is designed purely to flatter our own own egomaniacal overinflated sense of self-worth and nobody pays attention anyway, buuuut this came up on my shuffle, a lovely song. Midlake - Roscoe
  21. * edited for Moos' benefit. Plot summary: Things Exploding!!!!!
  22. Who's playing first base.
  23. I'm reminded of Brooker's [pulled] Guardian column at the last election. It was depressingly prophetic, but very funny. Let's hope Obama wins today!! http://www.thepiratescove.us/2004/10/24/the-guardian/
  24. Placement has been a feature for a little while, they don't come more blatant than the tank through the Heineken lorry in Goldeneye. Reminds me of the shootout in Lethal Weapon II to the tune of Bonnie Tyler's 'I need a hero' there's actually a momentary close-up of a bottle of Hero aftershave as it gets hit by a bullet. Shocking or genius, you decide.
  25. I really enjoyed the new Bourne film, it does what it says on the tin; the names Bourne, James Bourne. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TMoJRLStD9c It has lost some of the classic charm, but then catching the dreadful Die Another Day the other day, it's not a wholly bad thing.
