NME has just added it's name to the rumour mill http://www.nme.com/news/arcticmonkeys/46927

Hello Chuff - I've already had my arm bitten off for my spare so it's no longer spare I'm afraid. I'll PM you my number in case you fancy a drink - I'll be down there tonight by 7pm. If the support turns out to be the Klaxons or the like then I'll be one of a few hundred people heading for the door. The thing is, my intel is normally second to none but I'm unable to get this rumour confirmed 100%. At the moment, I fear that the rumour is just feeding on itself. What sort of pedrigree does your intel have?

AAAAaaaaaaarrrrrrrrggggggg Very frustrated about tonight. It's STILL only a rumour (albeit a strong one) that Them Crooked Vultures will support Arctic Monkeys tonight at Brixton. I have two tickets waiting for me to collect but haven't invited anyone along yet. If anyone from the forum wants to come tonight then please PM me (free tickets - no charge). You'll need to be able to get to Brixton by 7pm. There is the prospect of actually seeing a member of Led Zeppelin support a group of cnuts like the Arctic Monkeys. If it doesn't happen then you'll need to buy me a large vodka.

Hey Steve - the Donate button is on the very bottom line - far right hand side. I'm happy to send a cheque with a fee backdated to when I first joined the forum. I can even send you some folding-stuff by special delivery! I do have a Paypal account but it is currently frozen by Paypal, which means that I can't take money out. It has a lot of money in it (about ?600). Under Paypal's Ts and Cs they can freeze any account at any time until they are satisfied that you are who you say you are. Interest on frozen accounts (which they keep) is a nice income stream so they are in no hurry to unfreeze frozen accounts. They have a copy of my passport and a current utility bill but it could still be months before I see my money again. I'm not looking for advice here; I've already made the decision that I'm not going to get hot and bothered about Paypal - I just wanted to illustrate the point that Paypal is not a user-friendly organisation. There's nothing benign about them.

I've thought about just leaving after the support BUT what if they're "special guests" rather than support. Thinking about it, that's a more likely bet. I don't want to find myself heading south on the 37 bus whilst the band I actually want to see still has it's feet up backstage. Yes they are jumped up aren't they Keef. My shot is lousy though so throwing things isn't good advice. Sorry.

GG dilemma! Have historically been indifferent to the Arctic Monkeys but they're playing Brixton this week and there's a strong rumour the support will be a new band - Them Crooked Vultures. I'm desperate to see TCVs. I loathe the term "supergroup" but I reckon this one will truly rock. What to do? If I go and it's just the Arctic Monkeys I?d rather not subject myself to Brixton Academy.
  12. Can't believe I'm posting on THIS thread. Did we win? It's not that I know/care anything about cricket it's just that I've got some Australian friends that I would like to kick whilst they're down. Please advise.
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8FWnscrnb0 I can't get off the fence. Arctic Monkeys; over-rated or what?

  18. I'm just back from seeing Streetcar Named Desire at the Donmar tonight and I must say that it does rightfully deserve all the praise that has been heaped upon it. It's made me sad though (of course). I've seen it so many times and I keep hoping that it will turn out differently - which is insane, but still. There's something coming up at the National Theatre which may be a winner for the autumn; a new Alan Bennett play called "The Habit of Art" which is about an imaginary meeting between W H Auden and Benjamin Britten. The two men are played by Michael Gambon and Alex Jennings and you can't really go wrong with them. It will sell out quickly, simply because it's an Alan Bennett play with an excellent cast. Public booking opens on 2nd September so get in quick. http://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/51766/productions/the-habit-of-art.html And here's one for the tinies http://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/51824/productions/dr-seusssbr-the-cat-in-the-hat.html

  20. BBW - that's really unacceptable (and cowardly) for anyone to PM anyone a threat. Jah is right and you should report them. If it was me, I would cut and paste the messages onto the forum proper and make the comments public. I'm really sorry - you don't deserve that. I know you say that you're thick skinned but most people would be upset by that.

  22. There are some forumites whose posts I will never read because I don't like how they post. I will skip anyone who is regularly cruel, rude, aggressive, childish, makes personal attacks etc. I'm probably not alone in that. Conversely, there are some forumites whose threads I follow even though I don't agree with a word they write, but I find their arguments compelling. If you are going to be cruel or make personal attacks then you do need to accept that that there are forumites you will alienate in the process. Personally, I come on the forum for some light relief, not to be wound up, so I just automatically censor certain forumites by not reading their posts (or the pointless threads they start). I don't mind a good argument - let's face it they can be really amusing. For me, cruelty and rudeness cross a line - there's just no need.

And the bad thing about PayPal is that they are bloodsucking bastards who I would rather not sign up with if there is an alternative http://www.paypalsucks.com/

Have only just spotted the Donate page. I went there by accident. Now I feel guilty that I've had a free ride all these years! Is there any other way than Paybastard (Paypal)?
  25. The purse is reunited with its happy owner now and I'm overwriting my original post because it used her real name. px
