You couldn't be more right. I'm on the verge of having a T shirt made up with the slogan "Mick Mac is not wrong" on it. But (you could feel that little word coming couldn't you) I'm not inclined to let thing slide with the Boss. Why? Because he's used his fame as a platform for his left-wing political agenda for years (and I have no problem with that per se) and then he gets into bed with Wal-Mart for a quick buck. Everything about Wal-Mart is just wrong. Apparently there were a lot of fans turning up to his gigs in t-shirts with anti-Wal-Mart slogans and he didn't like that one bit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Wal-Mart http://wakeupwalmart.com/facts/ I would have let it slide had it been the Rolling Stones or Madonna - as greedy as hell and never pretended to be anything else. But the Boss - that sucks. And I concur, the apology was just PR. Now, whatever happened to the "hating Bono" thread.

Thunder Road makes me weep from beginning to end. I love this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8MAsAoRxqw Also a big fan of the Seeger session tour. I still haven't got my head around the Walmart debacle though. He's a rock star as rich as God and he had some fekking nerve laying that on his fans.

The area out front is roped off because he's making a point to the council. Apparently he had one too many parking tickets for his liking and then took to parking on the pavement outside his shop. He continued to get ticketed so now he ropes it off to make a point. Apparently.

Hello ED, Is there anyone going to see the Boss on Sunday that is planning to be there all day and might like a bit of company? If the weather is fine I'm tempted to go for the duration but my companion is only intending to arrive for 7pm. I would like to go for the day and see the supports, but not on my own. Anyone on the forum going and up for that? I'm vipped so I can get to the free bar and get a round in (yeah)! Px

It's contemptible to berate someone because their English usage isn?t up to scratch. Very cruel. Can?t you find something more worthy to make a point about?

Drivers beeping away on their horns at anyone who causes them annoyance is noise pollution. It?s unpleasant for everyone in earshot. Your car is fitted with a horn so you can warn others of danger; not so you can advertise your inability to control your temper.

Sean, what were you doing reading The Daily Mail?

It'll be something from Mott the Hoople then huh?
-
Oh poo. Perhaps a teensey weensey clue then? Please.

Dam I knew that. I'm always too bloody late. That's what comes of having to fit the forum around work.

Thank you PCG. I would never have got that. Haven't read it. I used to be a proper little "know it all". The older I get the more certain I am that I know f*ck all. But I feel wiser. Px

I saw him live twice for the first time last year; the first time at the O2 (dreadful choice of venue for him) and then at the Albert Hall. Before last year I didn't even own a LC CD. I would rate his Albert Hall concert as one of the top 5 gigs I've ever been to in my life.

Dear MikeCG, I was becoming very fond of you and I loved hearing about the magnificent Mrs MikeCG. Come back and I'll sing Take That's "Back for Good". Come on, you know you want to. Px

Definitely Mr Rochester. S'cuse me though, sorry to be thick, but I didn't get the answer to PGC's. Someone tell me please. I definitely had Jah's Cold Comfort Farm one sorted - dam it I was just too late. Miffed or what.

I meant to post last week as a reminder to the good people of ED that the Donmar's winter season was about to go to public booking. Public booking opened last Monday and business has been brisk; Streetcar was an instant sell out and Red has very nearly gone. If you do want to see anything at the Donmar this winter then you need to book straight away. The Donmar takes returns so don't worry if you book for something and then later can't go. If you want to see Streetcar (or anything else that is a sell-out) then you will need to queue up early on the day for one of the 10 day seats sold on the morning of the performance (they also sell standing on the day but that's a little bit too much effort for me).

I went to a stage version of the HHGTTG at the Rainbow in North London (anyone remember the place - Mr Bob Marley left his mark there once?) - we drank PGGBs from test tubes with dry ice coming from the general area of the bar. I wore an outfit with shoulder-pads and my boyfriend had a Porsche (well you had to).

Yes there are MM. The Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster does indeed get you very very inebriated. I tried one in the 80s and I've only just sobered up.

Sorry Mazza - how frustrating. I've never had that sort of experience with First Direct. I have however, recently had a similar experience to yours with O2 (don't get me started) so I totally understand your rant. One of my favourite websites is the Martin Lewis www.moneysavingexpert.com website. The forums are most informative. Why not spend some time on it before deciding which bank to switch to.

I've been with First Direct for 18 years and they haven't put a foot wrong with me. Sorry you're having a bad time with them though Mazza. Is it a specific issue? How long have you been with them? Maybe give them another chance?
