  1. I don't get the Killers at all. I saw them recently at the Albert Hall for their DVD shoot. Brandon does not interact with other members of the band, his fans, or anyone. It was very strange to watch. It's like he is in a bubble. Maybe he's very shy or maybe he has issues with his own fame - but even so it was strange to watch this lead singer guy in a vacuum by himself. What I've found in the past is that sometimes I think someone is overrated and then I see them live and I change my mind. Michael Stipe blew me away when I saw him live - really charismatic - but I'd never liked REM. The first time I saw Leonard Cohen live I became a massive fan straight away (he collapsed on stage this week - not good). There's a time and a place and sometimes we don't "get" artists now but we love them later.
  2. I'm devastated. Wait a minute...... now I'm over it.
  3. I think Robbie is overrated. Unfortunately my best friend is begging me to get her 2 tickets for Robbie at the Roundhouse AND go with her. Give me a frigging break. I don't mind Take That though. Jason Orange once brushed against me in a very tightly packed bar and I STILL get a shiver thinking about it. Yummie.

  5. Man Who Sold The World - David Bowie (and a nice Nirvana cover)
  6. Well there's no going back now Hooch. There's to be a global gathering upon Hammersmith. You're more nervous than Mr Hunter would you say? Or about on a par? Are you going every night? Have you bought a season ticket? So many questions.
  7. Poison - The Prodigy
  8. With the second coming nigh I believe it?s time to rescue this most worthy thread from the wasteland.
  9. Those things that some forumites put on the bottom of their posts. I don't know what they are called. Footers maybe? TLS has just acquired one (the fireman thing). Beyond irritating. What's the point?
  10. I don?t like the words "na?vet?" and "cynicism". For me they have negative connotations. I try to go through life keeping my heart open but at the same time using judgement and wisdom.
  11. This thread should die a death as quickly as possible. Not clever or funny.
  12. Clockwise. But now, wait.... still clockwise. Any minute now though.
  13. Fat Slags for me too.
  14. I would like to be stuck in a lift with George Clooney. I'm sure he must cook some time so he qualifies.

With dark glasses and heels?
  16. Perhaps an official day of mourning in ED? Now where's my LBD?
  17. Although this isn't strictly theatre, it's certainly very theatrical, so I'm posting here. I went to see Dita von Teese last night, here, and she was fabulous. http://www.casinodeparis.fr/ It was very civilized; we had a little table just in front of the stage and we drank champagne all through the show. I don't even have a hangover this morning so it must have been good champagne. Such a glamorous evening and I wore my favourite Ginas (very very sparkly shoes - probably visible from space). Here are some pictures from the show: http://www.ditasdomain.com/pressreleases/display.php?p=e
  18. Brilliant photos PR. I liked the first one, and the one that looks like a mop head. Px
  19. A friend bought me an orchid for my birthday. I killed it. She bought me another one and I killed that too. I would like to say "third time lucky" but I fear it won't be the case.
  20. Would anyone care to re-up me on Series 5?
  21. When I was 32 I was on life support at Kings for two weeks and wasn't expected to live. One of the best things that ever happened to me.

    Great Gigs

SeanMacGabhann Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > so? how was it??? Well Sean, it didn't suck. It was a real kick ass gig. The Academy was completely rammed at 7.30pm and that never happens - seems like word of mouth got round and everyone arrived early for the support. Imagine the riot if some unsigned little baby band had walked on? Anyway, that didn't happen and Them Crooked Vultures played an hour long set - which is basically all the material they have. I was down at the front with my very tall friend - right in front of the barrier just off to the right by the ladies' loos. They were loud as hell. How is Dave Grohl not deaf? Watching him drumming right up close is an experience in itself. One review I read said something like "Dave Grohl launched an all out assault on his drum kit". That was pretty spot on. He's fast and furious and totally rocks. John Paul Jones is a God and up close I would say he's got a wicked sense of humour - there were a couple of times he seemed to be trying really hard to put the other guys off and was loving every minute of it. I'd never seen Josh Homme before and he looks more like a Welsh rugby player than a rock star - but he was very charismatic. Brilliant night and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I didn't hang around for the Arctic Monkeys because IMO they would never be able to follow on from TCV. Most of the reviews of the Monkeys said that the guys had real balls to go on. The Monkeys did get excellent reviews for Brixton but I'm still glad I left when I did.

Yes that's spot on. The Lounge is a playground and even, as if by magic, a good thread appears, it's a safe bet that the children will run amok all over it by bedtime. It?s just that the Sitting Room is a bit grown up in a scary way.
  24. Yes that annoys me too Brendan. Try tapping them on the soulder. It ususally goes down well. Px

    Great Gigs

Hey Chuff - and anyone else who gives a hoot - John Paul Jones has just been spotted in Brixton getting dropped off at the Academy! Yeah then. Px
