Oh goodness no Brendan - no insinuation felt at all. I was just saying that I'm not looking for anything "spiritual" out of this - just purely physical. Mockney's post was quite alarming though - I think it must have been a very bad experience for him to feel so strongly. It's my body I want to send to boot camp - nothing else - that's what I was saying. Yoga, hmmm - I try so very hard but I have all the flexibility of an ironing board. I do keep trying and I do enjoy it - but I'm not likely to win any prizes at it any time soon. I have a lot of stamina though - I can keep on going when others are flagging.
  3. Thank you to everyone who has thrown their twopenneth in. I've read all your comments with interest. In truth I think I need to give it some more serious thought. Emotionally I'm not a needy person and I'm not looking for any answers to life's big questions; I really do just want the physical challenge. I had toyed with the idea of volunteering earlier in the year but I ruled it out because I couldn't think of anything I could do - but maybe I'll look into it properly. Thanks to Hal and PRose for posting. I shall probably return to Snow and Rock's hiking department because the assistants there were really realy easy on the eye and just the thought of one of them kneeling at my feet and asking if I could wiggle my toes OK is just too divine. I deserve a little pampering.
  4. Carrie - I'm so sorry - what a nightmare for your aunt. I don't have any answers but I just wanted to say that you are a star and I hope for your aunt's sake that she gets help quickly.

  6. HAL9000 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- What are you really seeking? A challenge Hal. Everything I do these days is well within the boundaries of my comfort zone. I live a very comfortable life. I have a lot to be grateful for and I AM grateful. I want to do something that scares me and challenges me and shakes me up.
  7. What exactly is hiking and how does it differ from walking? I'm seriously thinking of checking myself into an ashram in the early new year but it's hardcore so there's a lot to think about. Yoga at 6am followed by a daily 12 mile hike and then more yoga and a swim and then maybe a half a lentil and then it's bedtime. There's a long list of contraband which stretches to mobiles, laptops, alcohol, caffeine and cars. The website doesn't mention ipods but I don't think it's been updated in a while. Even worse, it's two to a room and four to a bathroom. Whilst the mountain hiking gig is a challenge that I could run with, the sharing of bedrooms and bathrooms is way, and I do mean way, outside by comfort zone. I'm generally a very spoiled girl - I know this. I've been thinking about doing this for a few years and finally broached the subject with my bitches at the weekend. They laughed right in my face. It wasn't the reaction I was expecting so I was a bit deflated. In fairness though I'm a city girl through and through and I panic if I'm away from the smoke too long. Best friend bitch reminded me of the first time she invited me to her parents' weekend house and I needed to be dug out when my Jimmy Choos sank into the driveway . Apparently they're still telling the story and I am legend in that corner of Suffolk. Fucking peasants. I looked fabulous. Anyway, I don't want to go through life staying in my comfort zone. This appeals to me. What do you think? Is it too much? Am I nuts? Today I tentatively ventured into one of those outdoorsey shops that sell camping stuff and big thick socks and things. I checked out the hiking footwear and it's all really ugly. Apparently they need a lot of wearing in so if I was to go to the ashram in March I would need to buy them now and, erm, wear them a bit. So I'm thinking, should I buy the boots and have a little hike and see how I feel about it?
  8. Ebay and Paypal (owned by Ebay) are greedy bloodsucking leeches that would shoot their own grandmother in the head if it meant another dollar in the bank. They are registered in Luxembourg and that says it all really. Most of the scammers on ebay used to be sellers selling fakes or selling things they had no intention of ever sending out, but these days many of the scammers are buyers waiting to pounce on an inexperienced seller. For example, an inexperienced seller does not realise that (s)he needs to be able to proove that the buyer has received the item they have paid for. Proof of dispatch counts for nothing. Unless you can proove receipt, your buyer is automatically entitled to a refund. There are scammers out there looking for inexperienced sellers who don't realise this. So in order to protect yourself you need to dispatch by recorded/secure mail, but this costs money so you put the postage up to claw it back, and then your buyers give you bad marks for "overcharging" on postage. One thing I know an awful lot about is shoes and handbags. Yes I am very shallow aren't I. In a million years I wouldn't buy anything from ebay. Fake city. Punch in the name of any designer on ebay and a list of fakes will come up. Have a look at this.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110439158802 it's a nasty horrible fake and look at what the price is on it already. I've just reported it to ebay for non compliance with ebay terms (refusing to accept Paypal). Ebay wont' care that the bag is a fake and someone is getting ripped off but they WILL care that the seller is refusing to accept Paypal so for that alone they'll remove it. Really Ebay is a mugs game these days. Ebay treats sellers so badly that most of the best ones have moved on. I recommend you sell your stuff at a car boot sale instead.
  9. Is this the thread where old puns come to die?
  10. Hoochie - in the words of Mr Rod Stewart of Muswell Hill, "Tonight's the Night".
  11. Well it's a weight off my mind that the whole reunion thing is panning out OK for you Hooch. I had friends at Monmouth who are still on cloud nine. They fell foul of "security" whilst trying to take some photos though.
  12. Big Man With a Gun - Nine Inch Nails
  13. I have never ever seen an episode of Star Trek. Not even one. Missed much?
  14. Change Gonna Come - Sam Cooke
  15. I can't think of anyone I would like to slap. Is that normal? OK possibly some child abuser but otherwise I think I'm OK without dolling out a slap. I recently saw an episode of the Katie Price documentary thing on ITV catch-up and I quite liked her. Apart from the whole Jordan thing she seems very down-to-earth and likeable. Where's all this aggression coming from ED? Play nicely.
  16. La Roux - I'm underwhelmed. In fact I find a lot of modern music below average. Oh dear Lord I am becoming my mother.
  17. Oh shame - especially as you only actually registered yourself on the forum a few minutes ago. Bored already are you?
  18. Is that you Snorkey? How you bin?
  19. I don't get the Killers at all. I saw them recently at the Albert Hall for their DVD shoot. Brandon does not interact with other members of the band, his fans, or anyone. It was very strange to watch. It's like he is in a bubble. Maybe he's very shy or maybe he has issues with his own fame - but even so it was strange to watch this lead singer guy in a vacuum by himself. What I've found in the past is that sometimes I think someone is overrated and then I see them live and I change my mind. Michael Stipe blew me away when I saw him live - really charismatic - but I'd never liked REM. The first time I saw Leonard Cohen live I became a massive fan straight away (he collapsed on stage this week - not good). There's a time and a place and sometimes we don't "get" artists now but we love them later.
  20. I'm devastated. Wait a minute...... now I'm over it.
  21. I think Robbie is overrated. Unfortunately my best friend is begging me to get her 2 tickets for Robbie at the Roundhouse AND go with her. Give me a frigging break. I don't mind Take That though. Jason Orange once brushed against me in a very tightly packed bar and I STILL get a shiver thinking about it. Yummie.
  22. Keef Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Dylan has written some greats, that others have improved upon. He just shouldn't be allowed to > perform his own work. HERE HERE!
  23. Man Who Sold The World - David Bowie (and a nice Nirvana cover)
  24. Well there's no going back now Hooch. There's to be a global gathering upon Hammersmith. You're more nervous than Mr Hunter would you say? Or about on a par? Are you going every night? Have you bought a season ticket? So many questions.
