It's beyond shocking. Scandalous. No wonder the Forum is going to the dogs (I think I mean that literally too).

Bathsheba, Your story is shocking and I'm so sorry this happened to you. You definitely need to move to another practice. Would you perhaps think about taking a friend with you next time? You're obviously really vulnerable right now and the last thing you need is to be in a stressful situation with no support. I hope things work out for you. Px

Someone tried to explain Wii to me only the other day but gave up. Yes please, I'll come.

Yes but Snorky, do you want floral tributes or would you prefer donations to a charity of your choice? It's best to clarify these things before you pop your clogs.

KalamityKel Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > cardboard boxes are all the rage these days altho > I must stress they do not come cheap... I have asked for a cardboard coffin in my "funeral wishes" doc and stressed that it should be as cheap as possible. I don't want a lot of money spent on my funeral service and I've put that in writing already. Seriously, I'm thinking ahead here because I want my funeral done my way. This site was helpful: http://www.burymeright.com/ or this: http://myfunkyfuneral.com/glam.php or even http://www.heavensabovefireworks.com/

Brilliant ads. It's good for you, you know.

Nobody has suggested banning anything. Advertising for alcohol is very tightly controlled. If anything is being suggested on this thread it is that the rules for advertising gambling outlets needs looking at.

That went down very nice thank you very much. Your round (again) Jah. Whilst you're up there have a word with Dermot and see if he's got any Stones. Ask him if not why not.

Oh go on then. A half pint of the Margaux '61. In a straight glass mind.

At it this early on a school night. I'm worried about you guys.

My funeral is going to be so much fun I'm actually devastated that I won't be there. Twice in my life I've nearly died. The first time I was very young but then when it happened to me again in my early thirties I was quite freaked out to think I might not get the funeral I want. So I wrote everything down. Cremated - obviously Really cheap coffin - no inexpense spared - something in heavy duty cardboard with a nice picture painted on it (note to self - send memo to Ikea suggesting a new line in "economy" coffins). If Ikea actually did make coffins they would probably be called something highly inappropriate - like "Skug" or "Jhikn". Music - well I'm keeping that a secret but, rest assured, it will be a great gig. A great party with only the best champagne and some drag queens doing a cabaret. My fabulous bitches can fight over my wardrobe when I'm gone. I hope they have fun. If you hear news of my demise on the Forum and, by chance, you happen to be a 39 in a Manolo, I suggest you get rount to my house sharpish - you'll think you've died and gone to heaven.

My father gambled away a small fortune. That did a great deal of damage to my childhood. Putting it mildly. It wasn't just about the money that was lost; he was a bad looser too so after a bad day just living under the same roof was unbearable. We lived in a very grand house and went to good schools so people just assumed that we had lots of money. Those things came from family wealth. In reality, we were as poor as church mice and my mother kept the house running on very little housekeeping. Her health suffered immensely as a result of the constant worry of not being able to feed us. It was a very hand to mouth existence. I didn?t mind being poor, but I did mind living in a home turbo-charged with desperation and anger and worry. It?s very sad when children grow up in homes where there is addiction (in any form). It?s also very worrying that gambling does seem to be recession-proof; there are many bookies within walking distance of my house and they always seem to be full. So what?s the story? People hoping for a big win to make their financial problems go away? It won?t happen. Just desperate times and desperate people and the bookies making a killing.

Eliza - what a brilliant post. Made me quite envious. One small thing niggles though; who in their right mind would take a dead duck to a concert? I mean, why would you? It?s just so spectacularly random. Do you think they travelled to the gig with the decedent or maybe just offed one when they got there?

Mikecd/BBW - that's inciting discrimination isn't it? I've had some very polite builders myself - house trained and everything. Anyway, that's discrimination and I'm off to report you.

Censorship / freedom of speech have always been political hot potatoes - it's not a road I want to see the forum going down. A lot of it is common sense though isn't it (otherwise known as self-censorship)? One golden rule for me is to not hide behind the anonyminity of the keyboard i.e. don?t post something that I wouldn?t be prepared to say to someone?s face. Some of the things I?ve seen here on recent weeks (albeit the last few weeks have been mad) have just been rude. They don?t need censoring ? just some basic good manners.

Would you pay hard cash to see him though MikeCG?

Michael Jackson. I don't get him and I've never been a fan. He's doing a residency at the O2 (like Prince did) and demand is expected to be huge. Personally I'm incredulous. Am I on my own here?

Yes of course, and if it was warm she wouldn't wear much more.
