  1. So did I, hence the 'again.' How many times do we get to become the new nappy valley?
  2. Sounds like a scam to me, well done for not parting with any money!
  3. ...again! http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/yummy-mummies-move-east-to-dulwich-as-high-rents-spark-clapham-exodus-8281468.html
  4. Great picture! The lava rink was actually closer to Camberwell Grove. Opposite what is now McNeil Road there is a council estate, the location is now a grassed are on the estate with 2 air shafts for the railway tunnel. Sadly nothing is left of the rink. From Ediths Streets: Lava Rink. An early specially built roller-skating rink opened in 1876 in a large iron building on the east side opposite Denmark Hill station. It was called the Lava Rink because the floor was made of lava from Vesuvius. The first English game of roller hockey was played here in 1885. In the 1914-1918 war, the rink became a military depot. It was burnt down in the 1920s.
  5. Own brand nappies and wipes for us, Sainsbury's or Asda. The price of branded nappies and wipes is ridiculous imo! I'm not really surprised the brands are struggling when supermarket's own are easily as good at a fraction of the price.
  6. I must admit to finding it quite sad that parents feel the local schools are so bad they have to send their children on 1hr+ commutes. My older children and their friends are all at local secondary schools and all doing brilliantly and are more than happy. The schools that aren't doing so well will only get better with the support of local families.
  7. Do you mean the online reservation service? If so, I use this everytime I use Argos. They base the reservation on current stock levels so will only tell you what is in stock at the time of the order, so it should slways be in that store if they say it is, it's always worked for me, they will reserve until the end of the next day. If it's not the reservation service that you mean, I apologise!
  8. Sounds about right these days, gone are the days one could get a cab from Safeways in Peckham to Honor Oak for ?3.
  9. I don't I'm afraid John, sorry. There have been workman in and out of there doing some work recently, I can't recall how long the signs have been up. If you give the school a call the headteacher or even caretakers may be able to help, the current head is very approachable.
  10. edhistory Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > EDmummy Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Heard rumour of asbestos in the building. > > That is a VERY serious allegation. > > What evidence do you have? > John K Maybe the signs all over the building saying Beware: Asbestos?
  11. My son's just come past it, said there are flames and smoke pouring through the roof and police are there.
  12. It has been targeted a fair bit, windows are often smashed. Sad indeed.
  13. Looks like behind Dulwich Hamlet from here, can hear a helicopter hovering close by too. Hope no-one's at risk.
  14. Volunteers for the relay need to be over 18 .

  16. CrystalWill, The one in Dulwich Hamlet rather than Sainsbury's car park. You go past the usual car entrance and turn left, then a sharp right into the car park. We've aways taken our car there, always been happy with the result.
  17. Yep, sainsbo's have lots of Olympic??? stuff.
  18. Lovely, thanks for that.
  19. What's the upper age limit? I used to take my now 5 year old when she was 3 and she loved it, would she be to old now? I'd love to bring her little sister.
  20. It means there was a pop-up shop there for about 3 months ;-P
  21. Haha goes without say... you're a Mum! Care to share your recipe?
  22. Glad you liked it! Did you make your own dressing?
  23. I quite often make this one http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/313617/smoked-mackerel-and-potato-bake Goes down well with all of mine :-)
  24. There is usually no distance limit on sibling places. My sister moved about 3 miles from her oldest son's school, but was still given a sibling place this year for her younger son. (Even though she applied to much closer schools.) I know of other people that have done the same.
