  2. My son's just come past it, said there are flames and smoke pouring through the roof and police are there.
  3. It has been targeted a fair bit, windows are often smashed. Sad indeed.
  4. Looks like behind Dulwich Hamlet from here, can hear a helicopter hovering close by too. Hope no-one's at risk.
  5. Volunteers for the relay need to be over 18 .

  7. CrystalWill, The one in Dulwich Hamlet rather than Sainsbury's car park. You go past the usual car entrance and turn left, then a sharp right into the car park. We've aways taken our car there, always been happy with the result.
  8. Yep, sainsbo's have lots of Olympic??? stuff.
  9. Lovely, thanks for that.
  10. What's the upper age limit? I used to take my now 5 year old when she was 3 and she loved it, would she be to old now? I'd love to bring her little sister.
  11. It means there was a pop-up shop there for about 3 months ;-P
  12. Haha goes without say... you're a Mum! Care to share your recipe?
  13. Glad you liked it! Did you make your own dressing?
  14. I quite often make this one http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/313617/smoked-mackerel-and-potato-bake Goes down well with all of mine :-)
  15. There is usually no distance limit on sibling places. My sister moved about 3 miles from her oldest son's school, but was still given a sibling place this year for her younger son. (Even though she applied to much closer schools.) I know of other people that have done the same.
  16. We live in a Victorian terrace and have a coal hole on the front path that goes to a small area at the front of our basement. Ours has been converted a lot over the years (before our time) we did find our lovely tiled fireplace hidden behind plasterbord and a horrible gas fire. Does anyone know if there's anyway of finding out the original layout?
  17. Really disppointed in that post computedshorty, I usually enjoy your posts but that was unessesary, how does one expect teenangers to have respect for adults when they are spoken to like that? I know Junad and have done for some years, he is a very polite, friendly boy and in keeping with this I think he should heed the advice of Maxxi & RosieH, I'm always sickeningly polite to people that are rude, it makes me feel better and them feel 6 inches tall (tu)
  18. It would be wise not to speculate or make comments based on hearsay, the persons family may well read the forum. Very sad indeed.
  19. I was told a few weeks ago that they reserve a few 'on the day' appointments. You have to call as soon as they open to get one, this may still be the case? I agree that it's not acceptable to wait a week for an appointment.
  20. There's an Iceland just down the road in Peckham, I shop in Iceland when money's particularly tight but would just pop to Peckham if the LL branch went.
  21. I agree with Jeremy. Although I do think the impact on parking made by the 8 new flats will need addressing. If Iceland already have huge lorrys delivering, what difference does it make what it says on the side of the lorry? I'd welcome an M&S on Lordship Lane.

  23. Hi all, My daughter was offered a place at Bessemer this time last year, we knew nothing about the school, we live practically on the doorstep of DKH where my older sons went. We went and had a look round straight away and I was impressed by what I saw, and the fact that the deputy head showed us round and took as much time as everyone needed to answer questions. We took the place and have never looked back, my daughter is so happy, the teachers are lovely, the early years playground is amazing, and the classrooms welcoming. The headteacher and deputy head are really doing everything they can to bring the school back up to standard and are always visible before and after school. There are lots and lots of after school clubs and sports groups. The children all settled in so quickly in September. I can honestly say I'm glad we got Bessemer over DKH now having had experience of both schools.
