  2. Did you find the Facebook group I mentioned on your other thread useful?
  3. I can ask for two teas in Turkish 🤣 And "Is there a supermarket near here?" in Italian 🤣

  5. There is a "joke" thread on here, which I haven't seen lately. One of the first "jokes" was specifically based on this word. I was horrified when I saw it and more horrified that nobody had apparently complained about it at the time. I don't think the post exists any more, because some time ago a lot of posts disappeared when the forum was updated. For what it's worth, I think the term is racist, and I called someone out on it when he used it at a party I was at. There are bad eggs in any group of people. That doesn't mean it is OK to casually insult all of them by using racist terms about them.
  6. My daughter says it should be tested by water company for potential mains leak. If it isn't that, you can email BGS on [email protected] giving location, spatial extent of area and timescale over which it's been happening. Usually needs site investigation, is clearly localised to you and something has changed. Sometimes failed soakaway if they have had an extension it may drain to soakaway. They clog up over time. Sorry for weird grammar, I've copied and pasted from her WhatsApp posts! ETA: BGS is British Geological Survey. My daughter works there.
  7. My daughter is a hydrogeologist but doesn't live locally. I will ask if she can shed any light without making a site visit.
  8. No prob re hijacking, the thread has been really useful for me 🙂 But as I have now discovered on the ULEZ thread that I only have to pay the charge when I'm actually driving the car within the zone, I'm keeping it for the time being. Certainly buying another car isn't an option until my present car expires and I've done more research. Before I found out about the ULEZ details I had made some enquiries about cars I had seen online and then got inundated with phone calls from dealers 😭😭😭 as I couldn't be emailed the details without giving my phone number 😭😭😭 Anyway, my car passed its MOT last week 👍

Though doesn't anybody go to the net any more?! It's a long time since I watched any tennis!

I'm more concerned with financial stuff sent in the post. The very late arrival of a bank card earlier in the year caused me all sorts of problems which are still reverberating.
  15. I do know someone with a tricycle. She lives in Forest Hill I also know someone with a unicycle. I'm not going to be getting one of those 🤣 Anyway, my ancient car has just passed its MOT, hooray, and I'm going to keep it while I suss out the financial effect of ULEZ.

I think it just must not have been available streamed. I don't normally watch live TV but I just checked and I'm getting Channel 4 fine this morning. So much for spending the best part of an hour changing passwords, turning things on and off etc etc 😶
