Surely they are allowed to bring their own water with them? If not, that's a Health and Safety issue. -
Pushing my small daughter in a buggy around a city in the baking heat was the worst thing for me. I really pity pregnant women in these kinds of temperatures.

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, but thanks so much for all your hard work, Joe (and again to Mark). At my advanced age it's going to take a bit of getting used to, but so do many things these days 🤣

We run regular Singarounds at The Ivy House in Nunhead. Second Sunday of the month 7pm. No PA, no stage, it isn't an open mic. We welcome songs of any genre, although many people do sing folk songs. Instrumental accompaniments to the songs are fine, but not just tunes without any words! More info from http://www.thegooseisout.com/Singarounds though we can't edit the website at the moment 😭 There are regular instrumental sessions at The Windmill in Brixton, no singing, also sadly on the second Sunday of the month so we can never go to them ourselves! If you are looking for people to sing or play with, many people have got together in duos or small groups as a result of meeting at our Singarounds.

Probably not that massive if you have shedloads of dosh. Anyway, they should have thought about that before they started all this. I agree re the possible quality of their legal advice, but perhaps they chose to go ahead regardless.

I always thought it was a very strange and off-putting name, but I'm hardly its target market. The Mixed Blessings bakery on the Walworth Road has also always struck me as an odd name to choose. Just because something has a vaguely double meaning doesn't make it good if the other meaning is somewhat negative!

I think I may have accidentally deleted somebody's PM re this, if you PMed me and didn't get a reply, could you send it again? Sorry.

Sorry, yet more technological angst. We have had a number of problems over the last year with our website, and although it is at least now back up, I can no longer edit or update it, as I can't access WordPress. The WordPress helpline says that this is due to issues with CSS and Javascript in the coding of the actual website itself. Our website developer completely rebuilt it in January after the previous problems, then in May it was apparently hacked and she said she had resurrected it from backups, but now she has said that she can no longer help as it is such an old website (she originally built it in 2014), and needs a lot of troubleshooting and a fresh eye. The website is http://www.thegooseisout.com and regardless of all the other issues with it, I really need to be able to get in to edit it, as we have a gig on 24 June :( and the home page in particular is way out of date. Can anybody advise, or can recommend a reasonably priced person who can?

I still have this problem, so it looks like reinstalling Word is the only thing left, but I really would rather not do it ....

Good idea but I'm guessing it's just builders there at the moment?

Great to hear that, hope it all goes well for you from now on.

East Dulwich one of London's "most heterosexual neighbourhoods"

I've always liked East Dulwich through all its incarnations, but I think it WAS pretty down at heel and rough, certainly around 1990. There were no decent pubs (and some had frequent fights), there were shops with things like old prams outside (for sale, not customers' prams!), there were no nice places to have a cup of coffee until Blue Mountain opened, and then Grace and Favour opposite which used to include a sort of tea shop, if memory serves. It's always been a great place to live though, because of the woods and the parks nearby. -

Does anyone know of anywhere I can recycle plastic coat hangers? I'm assuming shops won't take any from other shops, and I don't think charity shops want them?

An absolutely massive thank you to and recommendation for Steve. I have a seventeen year old fridge freezer. The fridge suddenly became very warm though the freezer was fine. I feared the worst. I phoned Steve and he diagnosed the problem immediately and I was able to sort it myself (the frost-free freezer needed defrosting, because there is a fan which sends cold air from the freezer to the fridge, and it had iced up. Who knew?!) Somebody less honest would have come out, charged a call out fee and then spun me some yarn. I am really impressed and will definitely use Steve for anything else which goes wrong appliance wise (though my other things are rather less old 🤣) ETA: All I had to do was turn it off for 48 hours and mop up the water from the back 😮 Luckily I had room in my chest freezer for most of the stuff in the upright freezer. Apart from about twenty lemons 😂

Note through the door? Find out what company the workmen are from and complain to them? If they are consistently ignoring regs, report them to the relevant council department (not noise). It's possible the owners are away and not aware of all this? Hope you find some way to stop it, building work noise is a nightmare anyway without having it on bank holidays as well.

The Ivy House in Nunhead takes books for their community library, but I doubt they would want that many! I would have thought the Oxfam bookshop in Herne Hill was your best bet. I've taken trolley loads there. But I get loads of books second hand from various online places, if there are specific books I'm after. Don't know where they get their books from but you could investigate?
