  1. Amazing 😮 Years ago I heard a terrible noise in my garden and it was a bird of prey catching (and carrying off) a starling. I used to get loads of starlings in my garden, and I haven't seen a single one since then 😭
  2. My post seems to have gone back to normal. Things are arriving within a couple of days of being posted, and Private Eye was on time. Also I am no longer receiving items posted weeks/months ago. Fingers crossed they have cleared the backlog and now have enough staff to deliver current post. I hope I am not tempting fate by posting (no pun intended) this.
  3. It's a bit odd that this isn't common knowledge among all vets, given the original post? Hope all your dogs recover quickly.
  4. I just used wwww.iloveimg.com which was very quick and easy and automatically compressed my photo to the correct size for the ED Forum without my having to put the required size in. If you had more than one photo to attach to one post, you would need to use another website though, as the photos would need to be compressed to a smaller size (but you could always attach one photo to each of the following posts) I couldn't find the website I used to use :(
  5. Great to hear some good news!
  6. According to the Zoe app, there are nearly 20,000 active cases in Southwark, which is up by over 3,000 from last week.

It comes by post from a central place, not locally, and Royal Mail must prioritise it because it is always delivered promptly. I have used it for some time, starting from the first lockdown, and it's been brilliant. They remind you when you are running out of things, too. Highly recommended. It used to be called Echo, but now it's called Lloyds Direct.
  9. That's very unclear, isn't it? Is it BO for branch office? Who is going to know that!

And whilst I am still receiving mail posted ages ago, a lot of this is arriving at once, so it does seem that they are finally making huge efforts to clear all the delayed post. I also recently received a package posted only 2 days ago! So I think that things are finally improving. Let's hope they get back to a regular and reliable service now, Covid permitting.

She is a very proactive constituency MP and has been very involved in trying to sort the delivery issues in ED. And isn't that "our"sorting office?
  14. Why do you want another bathroom, KK? Is all the hassle really worth it?

Just edit the subject line and/or the content of the post to say SOLD ..
  17. There are several websites where you can enter a photo and get it immediately reduced to the required size. Can't remember the names offhand but a quick Google should bring them up. Alternatively, any photo editing software would be able to do it, I think. As you say, it's the file size which needs to be reduced, not the dimensions of the photo.

The picture has now been updated to show one of Norma, but the description hasn't been. Thousands of people from all over the world have donated: https://ko-fi.com/elizacarthy
  19. I've just read this article, and I'm wondering what people have noticed locally re the increasingly earlier flowering of plants in their gardens and elsewhere. I was at Kew yesterday and they are certainly seeing it there. The knock on effects on insects and then birds is very alarming. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/feb/02/flowers-arriving-month-early-uk-climate-heats-up-bloom-insects-birds?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other This link from the above article also suggests what plants we can plant in our gardens to help the situation: https://www.rhs.org.uk/science/conservation-biodiversity/plants-for-bugs I hope the trend for bare "gardens" with hardly any actual plants in them, let alone wildlife friendly plants, is on its way out. Being around plants and trees and being able to see them from our windows is also very important for our own mental health, particularly in an urban environment where we increasingly have even the sky blocked out by high buildings and more and more loft extensions.
  20. Norma Waterson. Rest in peace, you were brilliant ❤️

  22. But her hands are now tied because of the Met involvement.
