I passed through Herne Hill recently, and saw a community notice board which appeared to be in pristine condition and with up-to-date notices in it. What a difference.

Bins on the pavement- keep on your own property!
Sue replied to Forevergreen's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'm assuming you live in a great big house with a great big front garden and loads of space to store your completely non-smelly bins? I expect you have one of those purpose-built bin stores, and you employ somebody to wait around until the bin people arrive, who can nip out as soon as the bins have been emptied, and put them back in your luxury bin store? Please spare a thought for those who aren't so lucky 🙄 -
Crikey, I wasn't expecting so much interest! These are all spoken for now, sorry!

It's because he doesn't like interruptions when he is working. He has a mobile number which is on the door of his workplace in Pellatt Road, which he will answer (the call). At least he did me. Sadly he was abroad on holiday at the time 🤣 You have to book an appointment online via his website, or else put a note through the door on Pellatt Road. He also only opens that if he is expecting someone. Don't be put off, he is very friendly and helpful and knows his stuff.

Thanks Joe, I'll try that and let you know the outcome!

Does anyone know if Sainsbury's plastic recycling will take blue IKEA bags? I presume IKEA will take them, but I have no plans to visit IKEA in the near future, and I seem to have accumulated eleven of them 😮 Alternatively, can anybody make use of them? I will keep two or three of them, but I would like to recycle the rest!

We went to this on Sunday afternoon, having been lucky enough to get tickets. It was absolutely brilliant. The acting was outstanding. It was hard to believe that none of the actors were professional, and we were told that the whole thing had been put together in eight weeks. Excellent direction and costumes, too. We would happily have paid for the tickets! It was also great to see the garden at the back. What an incredible amount of hard work had gone into clearing a site which we were told had been covered in fly tipped rubbish, head high brambles and worse, and creating a beautiful and productive flower and vegetable garden. What a contrast to the way the pub and its grounds have been left to deteriorate over the years by apparently greedy and self-interested people only out to make money by building luxury flats for the benefit of a few. I suppose at least we may finally get the pedestrian crossing at that junction, so that the owners of the luxury flats can cross the road 😡

I am constantly having to log in, even though I ask the page to "remember me". Am I doing something wrong?
-
I've completed it, but why is only one response possible for how you "use" Dulwich? If you shop there, can't you visit friends as well, etc?
-
Mine did that recently and the hard drive had failed 😭 Try Christian at Netquest Consulting in Pellatt Road: http://www.netquest-consulting.com/

I don't think asking how someone charges is "cross examining"? Far better to find out in advance, surely?

You could try Celestial at the Goose Green end of Lordship Lane.

I just tried to delete that last post because I posted it twice by mistake. I was asked to give the forum mods the reason, which I did. Then I got a message saying that this forum did not allow posts to be deleted 🙄 Now I've got rage 🤣 ETA: But the post does seem to have been deleted. So now I'm just confused 🤣

Very Easy Dulwich? 🤣

That's absolutely appalling. Surely they must have some kind of portion control before they start making the thing? Surely that's a basic starting point for anybody selling food? It's wasteful of both food and money. No wonder their prices are so high. And if the person who made it was new, then they are not training their staff properly.

I had assumed that the gutter weeds/wild flowers were due to the council stopping spraying, for environmental and/or rewilding reasons?
-
I did...But here its mis-leading. On the board they have listed the option of a juice with 2 ingredients (I think I wanted 2 vegetables because as a rule I dont like sweet drinks..) no additions and from memory that was around £4.50. So how come yours was so much more than the price quoted? Did they add gold glitter to it?!

Or eat whole fruits. At least then you get the fibre. Assuming they aren't giving you the pulp as well in their juices

From Facebook: Pearspring is Closing We are incredibly sad to announce that after 5 busy years helping our amazing customers with all things houseplant, we've made the very difficult decision that now is the right time to bring the final curtain down on Pearspring. The reasons for closing are numerous. It goes without saying that trading conditions since 2020 have been incredibly difficult. Brexit has impacted heavily on the operational side of the business - we now have to ‘import’ many of our plants and pots from the EU, pushing up prices and introducing checks and increased charges associated with being an importer; rising product prices have resulted in ever smaller margins as we try to keep our prices at levels we personally would be happy to pay - not to mention all of the considerable increases in our business costs just to keep the doors open each day. All of which (and a few other factors) have unfortunately made the business a much less enjoyable and much more stressful proposition, particularly since the start of 2022. Ultimately though, after 5 years solely focusing on working in and running the business, we feel now is the time to prioritise personal health, happiness and work life balance over the often all consuming aspects of running a small business. We hope you can understand - but sometimes you have to put yourself first, have a rest and refocus one's priorities in life. We can’t tell you how much we have loved being part of thriving Lordship Lane, and we will look back with immense pride on the business that we have built since 2017. We want to thank our wonderful team (past and present), who have really helped bring the ethos of Pearspring to life on a day-to-day basis. Finally none of it would have been possible without our incredible customers, and we sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It goes without saying that we will miss you, and we hope to see you one last time before the end of September. ⏳️ We will be trading until 4pm on Sunday 25th September 2022 ⌛️ ⚠️ Anyone with gift cards - if you can please aim to use these by 25.09.2022 ⚠️

What is it? I've never heard of it. Do you have a link?

Where do we now go? Tandoori nights closing
Sue replied to Jamming's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Well the prices are certainly cheap, but one wonders why. What is the quality of their ingredients, and how much do they pay their staff? -

We have found Millennium on Grove Vale consistently good for deliveries. Nothing out of the ordinary as far as the actual menu goes, but we have never had a disappointing meal from there. -
Which is the one in Penge, Malumbu? Is that the very small one with the tea shop which has twee gifts and advertises in SE22 mag? I went there once. They did have good plants, as in well selected, but not very many of them if memory serves.

Thanks for this, I've never been there, I will check it out!

Strange their website makes no mention of it at all!
