Foxtons on Lordship Lane soon to become a Poundland Local
Sue replied to teddyboy23's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The trouble with Lidl is, it's so cheap you end up buying a load of stuff you don't really need. Like IKEA. I have to stay away from Lidl for that reason 🤣 And yes, there is one just down the road from King's. -
These are great! On one now and passing lots of different kinds of retro buses going the other way! Thanks so much for telling us about it!

Sorry, duplicate post. That was meant to substitute the post above. It's taking me a while to get to grips with this forum 🙄

Green bin?

There's also the space it takes up to consider, plus the appearance of it if you have to keep it on a worktop all the time. Don't get me wrong, I think for a lot of people they would be great, assuming you can afford the initial outlay.

Boris Johnson moving to Dulwich Village? What have we done to deserve this? ;-)
Sue replied to MrsR's topic in The Lounge
I stand corrected 🤣 But none of it is East Dulwich, so I agree with Malumbu that the thread should be in the lounge 🤣 And please God BJ comes nowhere near ED. -
Huge sympathy. Re the council issues, in particular the rude response, you could contact James McCash, or whoever your local councillor is. That is just unacceptable from someone who is dealing with the public. Re the other, you could at least ask the builders to turn the radio down (or preferably off, though good luck with that, as many builders seem oblivious to the fact that there are people around who are trying to work or sleep or are ill or who just want to live quietly in their homes) . And you could try to find out when the work will be finished, so that at least you have some idea. And if there is actual damage, inform your insurance company as soon as possible if you think you know the cause, as possibly you could get this paid for by the building firm involved ( though I have no idea!)

I was ok for a while, but now I keep having to log in again. Not quite sure what's going on.

How much would you have to use the air fryer to recoup its cost in energy saving? I read that it's cheaper to batch cook - fill the oven and then freeze what you don't use immediately, in suitable sized portions for the number of people who will eat them. Obviously this assumes that you have a freezer with spare capacity. You can also do this with stews, stir fries etc cooked on the hob. Once frozen, you can either let them thaw naturally before you reheat them, or if you are in a hurry microwave them (not in the same container. You can briefly run the container under a tap to loosen the contents, then put them in another dish). I don't much like cooking, so I've been doing this for years, not to save money, but to get a load of cooking done in one go. I can see in some cases cooking in an air frier might be healthier, but only if you are currently eating a lot of unhealthy deep fried foods, I would have thought?

Stradella Road runs between Dulwich Village and Herne Hill, so if it is correct that he is moving to that road, it would depend which end of the road it was. -
I have a manhole cover over a drain in my front garden, and it is definitely Thames Water's responsibility up to the road. In fact they fairly recently repaired the drain and installed the manhole cover. Whether you can actually get to the right Thames Water department and then actually get them to do the repair is another matter entirely. I had been trying to get them to repair the drain for some time. The broken drain had been identified during resin injection work beneath my front bay It took a sewage overflow in my case. They said they only did repairs if something like that happened 🙄 I imagine in your case it's a safety issue, so maybe they will respond more quickly. Good luck!

Same here, and I too received a load of post all at once after not having had any for ages. I'm in the North Cross Road area.

There are places online where if you put in your model number and details of what part/s you want, with your email address, they will circulate it around a number of different businesses who wil contact you directly with price, delivery charge etc. You can then choose who you want to buy it from Sorry, I don't have time to find the details, but should be quite easy to find if you Google something like auto spares or VW parts. Good luck!

Wondering if you have read the rest of the thread? "Endure" ???

The graffiti in the skate park has been done by the skateboarders themselves, to the best of my knowledge.
-
They kept the door closed for some time for Covid reasons.
-
Other people who live in the flats have welcomed the skateboard park and community garden for the opportunities it is giving to (mostly young) members of the local community. Are you saying it (and the recent excellent play put on there, supported by the Arts Council) is not "meaningful"? How do you define "meaningful" in this context? Are you saying there was no noise when it was a pub car park and garden? Are you saying there is no noise from the traffic on the South Circular? I pass the skateboard park frequently, and quite often there is nobody there at all. I see you only have two posts on this forum, so it wouldn't seem that you are greatly involved with the local community yourself 🙄 Also, graffiti is a recognised art form.

There is one receptionist at The Gardens who from past posts on here seems to be renowned for her behaviour and attitude. I can't understand how she is still in the job. I changed my practice to The Gardens during lockdown, following a recommendation. I have no issues with the GPs, or with getting appointments (for anything potentially serious, I have always got one very quickly, and for anything not serious I am happy to wait). But my first visit there (the introductory session, or whatever it's called, with a nurse) nearly resulted in my turning round, going home, and registering somewhere else. I rang the bell. Nobody came to the door. This went on for a very long time. Eventually someone appeared, snapped at me "take a seat", and disappeared again. There was nobody else in the waiting room. Stupid me. I sort of thought that she would say something like "Oh, you are a new patient, aren't you? Welcome! The nurse will see you soon, meantime please take a seat." But no. Whilst I was waiting for my appointment, a very elderly woman on two sticks was kept outside ringing the bell for a very long time before the same receptionist eventually let her in. In retrospect, I'm not sure why I didn't just let her in myself. When I was there for a subsequent appointment, one of the other receptionists had to retrieve some paperwork to give me, which she eventually found filed in two separate places rather than all together under my name. When she mildly asked the first receptionist (the non door opening one) why she had not kept my papers together, she got the snapped reply "I'm doing my best." Surely the practice manager, GPs and nurses must be aware of this? People have been posting on here about it for ages, as well. It is just not acceptable for someone in this kind of role. I posted on here once before about this, and someone PMed me to say she had had similar experiences with one of the receptionists. She asked me to describe her, which I did, and it was clearly the same woman. BTW in terms of communicating with the surgery, I have found they reply quite quickly to emails, if you are able to use email.
