How will the ULEZ be enforced in ED?

My understanding from what has been said in the thread previously is a) You do not pay the charge unless you are actually driving in the zone and b) You only pay the daily charge once no matter how many times you go in and out of the zone and/or drive within it. Anyway, it seems sensible to go for automatic payment, then you can see what you have been charged for and why, and if necessary and possible and preferable avoid doing some of those things in future, eg moving your car from one side of your own road to the other ...... -
Royal Mail..parcels not being delivered

's posts, be aware that apparently the trainer name is banned in forum posts (why?!) so you will not be able to include their name in your posts. -

So it's posted alright here. Very strange.

Well I've reworded it loads of times and I still can't post it. This is it: Adidas_guy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I received electronic proof of delivery from Royal > Mail which says a parcel was delivered to me at > 13:54 today and apparently I signed for it?. > However it was not delivered. I'm unable to post on the ED issues page. Anyone else? Of course if it's a more general problem I won't be able to post this either!

Unfortunately, though, Lloyds don't collect empty blister packets for recycling. I asked them when the local Superdrug said their branch didn't. I believe any pharmacy will take out of date and unused medication, but I may be wrong?

Thanks DKH. Glad I found this out before I did something irrevocable (like buy another car) :)) -

Thanks both. I need to rethink my car strategy now! So if you start in the zone, then drive out of it, but drive back in within the same day, are you charged once or twice? -

Lowlander Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > No is only when you drive. Otherwise it would be > 4,575 each leap year or 4,562.5 on non leap years. Oh really? Is that true That may be a game changer for me if so. I thought it was ?12.5O for every day your car was within the zone, parked or driven? Can somebody post a link which states the rule very clearly and unambiguously, please? Obviously when I say is that true, I'm not referring to Lowlander's figures 🤣 -

But torn and damaged books are a quite different kettle of fish to books which are just old. As pointed out above, some old books can be quite valuable from a money point of view, and others will be of interest to people for various reasons. I quite often buy old books, because I find them interesting or amusing, or because I like the pictures, or sometimes to use them in collages or decoupage. ETA: As BNG says above, the Oxfam book shop in Herne Hill will take any amount of books. I imagine they check them all and know which are worth more than others. I have taken a large amount of books there in the past. In my shopping trolley (I know you don't have a car, Foxy 🦊 )

One of my granddaughters cuts the middles out of old books and makes boxes of them. There was someone a few Christmases back selling things made of old books from a stall on Lordship Lane. Artists also make interesting things using pages from old books.

There's a tiny one at the bottom of Oglander Road. I bought some books there a few weeks ago!

I've got the same problem with Royal Mail. Senders send replacements and they never arrive either. ETA: Helen Hayes (our MP) went to a lot of trouble to look into this a while back. It might be worth contacting her again. -
richard tudor Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Why should the Mayor of London change or consider > any other plan when he takes 3 cars when taking > his dog for a walk. > > Most people very soon would appreciate having a > car for important day to day living. The mayor of London presumably has to consider security issues, and no doubt his cars conform to the ULEZ rules on emissions. People may appreciate having a car, and as noted above, for some people it is virtually essential, however there is increasing evidence of the damage pollution does both to the environment and to health The results of more research on that was just publicised this morning.
