In the past I have left large pieces of cardboard next to my blue bin, and it has been taken by the bin men. I use cardboard on my allotment now (but I don't need any more, sorry!) ETA: There are often people on the forum looking for cardboard boxes, usually because they are moving house. So you could try advertising it free in the Wanted section?

Admin, please move if this isn't in the right section. I have a record deck I'd like to take to a charity shop (the deck has connections to convert vinyl to MP3s or whatever via appropriate software). Does anybody know if either the hospice shop or the Mind shop takes electrical items? I know when I took an old vintage lamp to the hospice shop they wouldn't take it until I had removed all the wiring, however this deck is newer than the lamp was (though around ten years old I think).

Just obvious facts" Nowhere in my posts or anywhere else on here are these "obvious facts" in bold above stated. So I would say, yes, you are posting to provoke, as you do elsewhere on the forum. It's annoying and rather childish, especially on a thread about a serious issue.

I specifically said in my email that I did not want to get anybody into trouble, and that I was concerned that there was a training issue. Clutterqueen just provokes to get a reaction.

I received the following email from Tesco yesterday (though I've only just picked it up). It doesn't address the issue of training, but at least they are following it up: Hi there Sue, Thanks for getting in touch. I am really sorry to hear about what happened during the delivery of your last order. I would also feel really uncomfortable if someone stood so unnecessarily close to me while delivering the shopping. He should have never been putting you in that position. Moving forward I have now gone ahead and fed this back to the Store Management Team to make sure this addressed with the colleague in question, and all the other delivery drivers in the team. This will make sure this doesn't happen again. I hope this helps to allay your concerns for future deliveries. Please have a lovely weekend. I have just looked back through the thread and seen that I asked about where to get fresh turmeric, so profuse apologies, Foxy 🦊 Still don't know why you are so against the Bellenden Road shops though. You specifically mentioned them as being very expensive. And they are not much more of a walk for you than Sainsbury's is! Down CPR and Adys Road and you're nearly there!

They seem to be mainly very young (though less so now), apart from one older male (who is maybe showing them the ropes?). The little male ones are just getting their black bibs.

Nnobody is telling you what to do, Foxy, but you seem very anti the shops in Bellenden Road for some reason, as you seem to have come onto this thread just to have a go at them out of the blue? ETA: Oh, and Sainsbury's had loads of shops in the fifties. It was a chain then! It started in 1869! Amazing what you can find out by googling! I have a freezer full of home cooked plant-based meals, plus three ring binders of recipes :)) Though I am no longer strictly vegan, as the vegan diet I was on gave me digestive problems :( ETA: Oh and I do occasionally eat fish.

DulwichFox, I am comparing prices :) If you don't want to look at prices per kilo, I gave you a price (above) of ?1.28 per 100g at Real Foods. In any case, many people would buy a kilo and split it with friends. I know lots of people who do that with various "whole foods" online. Your original post seemed to be solely to have a pop at the local traders in Bellenden Road, and by implication the people who shop there. Yet you haven't actually told us what the price of fresh turmeric is at any of the shops in Bellenden Road, for example the shop which has lots of very good quality vegetables outside (assuming it sells it). I have no idea why you posted it on this thread, where turmeric has to the best of my knowledge never been mentioned, fresh or otherwise :)) probably because most people don't eat turmeric as part of a plant-based diet :)) Oh, and obviously anything frozen is "no longer fresh" when defrosted. But frozen peas, for example, are better than fresh peas (unless you have cooked them straight from picking them yourself) because peas, like many vegetables, lose their nutritional value very quickly after they have been picked. I use both Sainsbury's and Tesco depending on what I need and who has what on offer, plus sometimes Iceland.So what? I now get a lot at once, rather than shopping weekly, because Tesco's delivery charges have rocketed. Not of perishable things obviously. Luckily I have space to store it.
