  1. If I'm going anywhere by public transport, I consult Google Maps as to which is the quickest route at the time I'm travelling. When I remember. If I don't remember and have a long and tedious journey, I curse myself all the way there for not remembering :))
  2. It's London. There's traffic :) and constant roadworks :) I avoid any bus going down the Strand or anywhere on the South Circular during the rush hour, if possible.
  3. Definitely complain. That surely can't be hospital policy, so something has gone wrong, and somebody along the line should have realised that something was going wrong. A complaint to PALS will be investigated, and at the very least may prevent this happening to anybody else.

EDNate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > singalto Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Denmark Hill to Victoria is quick. > > > That's not the entire journey You asked for other people's experience, and a lot of people above have given helpful suggestions. If none of those suggestions are acceptable to you, it's hard to see what you can do other than to move again - somewhere which is more convenient to you for your transport requirements ..... When my workplace relocated, I used to sometimes have a nearly two hour journey back from work in the rush hour. It was annoying, but it's part and parcel of living in London. ETA: When I moved to East Dulwich, it was because it was relatively easy to get from here to where I was then working. I deliberately didn't move to a part of East Dulwich which would not have been so easy, being either a long walk or a bus ride from the station. You have to weigh up pros and cons. I assume you chose the house/flat and area where you are now living for a reason.
  5. I don't really have a problem with the 185. If I'm doing something time critical I use the Bus Countdown app (or Google maps, sometimes more reliable) to see when there is one due before I leave home. You could always get a 176 or 40 to Camberwell Green, if one comes first, then change there and get the first bus up to Vauxhall, though it's a bit of a pain as you have to walk round the corner. I just looked on Google Maps and it's reckoning around 40 minutes from my house (North Cross Road area) to Green Park tube at the moment by public transport. Obviously it will depend on the time you are travelling and how heavy the trafffic is.

But why is that embarrassing? It's done for security reasons (in case someone steals your card and then makes a load of contactless payments). Shop assistants and other shoppers know this, surely? And anyway, if a contactless payment is declined, it will go through once you have put your PIN in. It must happen to everybody!
  7. You don't say what time?

And people who aren't in a hurry who would rather have a pleasant journey where they can get a seat and look out of the window. And don't have to worry about traffic, other people's appalling driving and finding somewhere to park.
  10. Just to say, one of the reasons there are so many recommendations on here for Nico is that (at least in my experience) he asks people to put them on here, and I suspect that they then feel they have to. Call me cynical, but I'd rather use a busy and efficient plumber who doesn't need to do that (yes I have one).
  11. Sorry misread the post!
  12. I'm still waiting for something which was posted on 26 October :(

Mr Bao is indeed delicious, but extremely small and very difficult to get a table, in our experience. ETA: Another vote for Franklins here!

Then it is clearly not fit for purpose, and they should change it. ETA: Very sorry to hear about your ankle, OP.

  16. Southwark Park fireworks were very good! Easy to get to (South Bermondsey station is three stops on from East Dulwich, and a short walk from there).
  17. Oooops sorry posted twice by mistake
  18. 7pm,2 minutes after you posted. Sorry!

However the fireworks at Southwark Park are still free to Southwark residents (I'm going tonight) but you still have to get a ticket in advance, presumably so that they can limit the numbers as well.
  20. You all need to report this to Royal Mail (if you haven't already done) .....
  21. See the other thread. This has happened to several people in Forest Hill, and a postal worker there has apparently been sacked.
  22. I think Monica in Health Matters on Lordship Lane used to have a key to these boards, don't know if she still does but if not she may know who has.
  23. What do you suppose the councillors can do about it?!
  24. Thanks for these updates. Pressure low in Ulverscroft Road too at the moment.
  25. They are on Facebook, but the only address there is their store in Queens Park.
