  1. I can't understand how the child clung on for so long. Brilliant outcome, as Ilona says, and I hope the child's father is suitably punished. ETA: Don't think he was a toddler, apparently he was four. Child not father, obvs.
  2. No
  3. Sorry. Duplicate post.

  5. Suggest you let American Express know you have found it, as the owner is fairly unlikely to see your post?
  6. Surely it's just common decency if you spill paint in a public place to clear it up?

  8. Planes have flown (what appeared to be) straight over my house for years. Today they seem to be flying somewhere to the North. I can still hear them, but not nearly so loudly. Is this my imagination?
  9. I would be devastated if my beloved Birkies got covered in paint :(
  10. Who votes for these awards? With the Time Out awards, it's the general public.

It's quick growing and decorative. Yep. I think that was why it was imported by the Victorians in the first place.

  16. But will there be Mr Scruff merch? I need to add to my collection :))
  17. Is Mr Scruff going to be there? That's worth the ticket price alone :) I have some Mr Scruff oven gloves. And a mug :)) :)) :)) Oh and some music, somewhere :))

I wouldn't dig anything in. You will just bring the clay to the surface, and in any case it's very hard work. Anyway in the Summer you won't be able to dig clay, unless it's a very wet season, it will be hard and cracked. Whatever you use, just lay it on top. The worms will take it down anyway. Sharp sand (only sharp sand, not builders sand) can improve the drainage, but I personally wouldn't use a lot of it. You need organic matter. The riding stables on the South Circular (just past the old Harvester) have manure, however you will have to let this rot down before you plant in it, so you may not have the space to do that. Often there are people on here giving away topsoil, however it varies very much in quality. You can buy it in bulk, but that's an expensive way to do it if you need a lot. You can make your own compost (I think the council are selling dalek compost bins cheap at the moment) however this takes a long time and you might not want a dalek in your garden unless you can hide it somewhere. Leaf mould is also a good soil conditioner, but that takes even longer to rot down. I just googled and found this article, which looks useful: https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=620 Good luck! The only plus point about clay is that it's very fertile, but otherwise it's a real pain! ETA: Sorry, I see much of what I've said has already been said, duh.
  19. Also, you are now not limited to just a few, as you used to be (at the library, anyway).
  20. Er, I'm still here ..... :))

  24. I have a gnome in my garden. He is called Lupin Grommett. He is forty years old :)
