I agree. What was the process of the shortlisting? I love (most of) the local street art, but if I voted in this case, it would be for the one I disliked least, sorry :(
  4. Great to see a dog story on here with a happy ending, and it sounds like with lovely owners on both sides.

This may well explain why a few days ago my garden was full of extremely agitated sparrows flying round and round. I did think it was rather strange. I saw a bird of prey recently on the allotments next to Camber Tennis Club on the South Circular - maybe the same one? I used to get loads of starlings in my garden, and some years back a raptor took one of them off. I've never seen a starling in my garden since :(

That's why I stopped going to Lidl :)) It was worse than going to IKEA :))

  9. Describing it as a "bloodbath" is a bit OTT, Daily Express. Glad the injuries are not life-threatening.
  10. 40cm? That seems very short??

The bottom part of the window frame has rotted and come away from the glass. I agree it's an accident waiting to happen but I have no idea who it should be reported to. Also, worryingly near kids coming to and from the school.

  13. I was told a few weeks back that St Christopher's would take electrical goods if the flex (?) was removed. Obviously that would not be appropriate for some items. I then took a brass vintage table lamp in which would have to be rewired when bought as I had cut the flex off. I sincerely hope they have not binned it as I think it was worth quite a bit.

Who is giving them these "projects", do you know? (and do you know what they are?) Surely if there is somebody in charge it should be someone with a basic grasp of the need to keep on top of maintenance?!
  15. I thought it was for sale by auction not that long ago? And when the sign came down, I presumed it had been sold?

Well yes, most places are green and lush due to all the rain we had earlier combined with the spells of hot weather. Unfortunately much of the greenness and lushness in the park borders is (or was when I started the thread) weeds. For those who aren't gardeners, the problem with weeds is not just that they can look very unsightly in what are supposed to be ornamental borders, but that they compete with the plants which are supposed to be there for space, nutrients and light. Also, they self seed all over the place and within a very short time what started off as a few weeds have taken over the whole of the space.

  18. Crikey, once this is all sorted (good luck) maybe you should change your property management company .....
  19. If you just want it as a deterrent, you could install a fake one (or two) yourself?

How rude. As I said, I am busy. There are lots of things I would like to do if I had the time. Why should I stop posting on here? It is a break from other things, and keeps me in touch with what is going on locally. Since I have lived here a long time I am presumably allowed an interest. You must have a lot of time on your hands if you could be bothered to look up the number of posts I have made just to have a go at me.
