  1. So is that the end, then?
  2. What are banging noises in North Cross Road area (and possibly wider)? Doesn't sound like thunder. Fireworks?
  3. I think the petition obviously comes from a caring place, but waiving fees for one particular case, however emotive and deserving, would create a precedent. How would JustGiving be able to decide what causes should have their fees waived in the future, if asked?
  4. Yes there did but now I think you can just use the loos in the library. Though last time I did that, I came out to find what appeared to be a coach load of female tourists queuing :))

  6. O.M.G. A rat has just run along my garden fence and up the climbers to the roof. I imagine looking for bird nests. I hold you responsible for chasing it away from your house, Foxy :( Perhaps the exorbitant amount of money you paid to the pest controllers could extend to this one :)) If it's the same one, it appears to have got a new lease of life :)). Must be that expensive poison :))
  7. There was a spate of this some years back. On that occasion it was just before Mother's Day. My window boxes are now secured to the window frame with chains. They could still be removed, but less likely.

I don't think that's true. I heard him speak just after (literally just after) he had been put under pressure all afternoon by Labour MPs who wanted him to stand down as leader. He was totally inspiring. That was months and months ago. The only reason anybody would think otherwise was because of biased media coverage. I doubt very much any consultancy has been involved. He didn't need it.

Ordinary rat poison works fine. How on earth can they justify charging ?180? How long were they there for?

I have no idea what may be the nature of Diane's illness, but sometimes when I've been unwell in the past (physically, but also including being off work with stress) I couldn't do anything much at all, let alone anything requiring thought. I agree she shouldn't have been put in that position if she was ill, but we have no idea of the background.
  12. I'm sorry about your bad experience, but when you say wearing clothes of a colour relating to a political party, what do you mean? Theresa May has been wearing red a lot lately, but I guess she wasn't trying to get people to vote Labour!
  13. Rats are everywhere in London. It's just that we don't usually see them.
  14. Did I miss the thread on here about Theresa May? Whose media presence has been notable by its absence, apart from one or two abysmal instances? Or the thread about the present Foreign Secretary's recent performance? And he is, for the moment, still in post.
  15. Are you sure it wasn't a small fox, not a large rat?! I noticed you have been keeping your door open. Maybe it ran in from outside? Maybe wait and see if it (or more) comes back before you take any action?

  17. The nastier posters on this thread might like to take a look at the piece linked to below. https://cookingonabootstrap.com/2017/06/07/we-need-to-talk-about-diane-abbott-now-explicit-content/ Diane Abbott is an intelligent, caring and articulate woman who has been bullied and subjected to vile abuse of the kind shown in that article for years.

That is my (true) response to charity people who knock on my door, plus that I can't give to everybody, and if anybody had enquired further in that way they would (depending on my mood) probably be told to f- off. I think you should report her to Unicef. That is totally out of order.
  20. In the early nineties, there used to be people coming round selling a selection of truly terrible paintings door to door. Does anybody else remember that?
  21. Crikey, hope you weren't posting that from your phone :))
  22. No, it's a scam, see many many previous threads on here ....
  23. Presently in Ulverscroft Road. Just a heads-up
