Oh alright then ..... I'll force myself away from my chair for ten minutes .....

But on the other hand, many moons ago when I was at uni I went out with a medic, and the thought of anybody ever being his patient is just too horrific to contemplate :-S -
What everybody said :) Wishing everyone posting on and reading the forum a happy, healthy and peaceful 2012. Special thanks to Admin and the Mods xx

Just wondered if anybody was still smelling this strange smell - my neighbour says hers has gone now. -
former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
Sue replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sorry, I think I'm mixing it up with something else - revolving ads down Lordship Lane? Something like that. Which included one outside the station, I think. -

I know interest rates are low, but surely you could find something paying higher interest than that?!?!?! Highest Paying Savings I do sympathise because I took a lump sum as part of my pension and now I wish I hadn't because what's left of it is plummeting in value :-S ETA: In the past even when I took voluntary redundancy it didn't affect my entitlement to JSA ???? The contributions - based kind, not the means-tested kind, anyway.

Ex council flats in ED- good investment?

DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Whilst I agree Social Housing should remain Social > Housing.... > > The big Problem is that many Local Councils do not > have the Money to maintain the housing it still > owns. > Much of Social Housing is in a poor state of > repair. > xxxxxxx But for example there has recently been an absolutely massive programme of improvements on the Dog Kennel Hill Estate, and I believe also on at least one estate on the other side of the Rye (and probably others). I recognise one swallow does not a summer make (or something) but it does seem to me that Southwark Council is doing its best with probably very limited resources. It could probably do more if it raised council tax, and then what? Votes for the other party. That's partly why the NHS and many schools are in such a fragile state - income tax rate reduced for political gain, and then nobody willing to put it back up again. What do people think pays for the NHS and education budgets? This isn't The Big Society, is it? It's everybody paying lipservice to community, but not wanting to be out of pocket to see other people lower down the heap raise their standard of living. Sorry admin, off topic, delete post if you want :-$ -

Same here - I think the Sally Army do really good work. Somebody recently mentioned on the forum that they had heard their carols this year, but not sure if it was in ED.

bob Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > There's whisky in the Giro( Thin Lizzy ) > Bob S xxxxxxxxxx :)) I think the idea of people having to cash their giros in a pub is a terrible idea, for all sorts of reasons, including the fact that everybody in the pub will know that you are on benefits - which some claimants (is that still the right word?) may not care about, but others may. Or is the idea that the pub will provide a whole range of services presently provided by Post Offices? Great. You go in for a quiet pint and find a queue snaking through the pub waiting to buy stamps. Very atmospheric. ETA: Oh, yet again I didn't read the OP properly. As you were. Can't be arsed to edit this. Supposed to be doing my cheapskate thing and sending e-cards.
