  1. Thanks. I've never seen them before on the Common crows. Some very scrawny ones too which have ragged neck feathers
  2. they are being fed and I wondered if they were therefore over-populating, allowing genetic faults to survive (as per the Canada Geese).
  3. I recognise magpies and jackdaws. This is white feathers in patches, reminding me of the Canada Geese with wing feathers missing ie a genetic fault.
  4. There seem to be a growing number of crows/rooks on the Common with patches of white feathers. Anyone know why?
  5. all solicitors should tell you what an appointment will cost in advance. a first step might be Citizens Advice in Peckham https://www.citizensadvicesouthwark.org.uk/ or Advice Guide https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/?adviceguide.org.uk/
  6. And Cooopers Bakehouse will deliver it https://www.coopersbakehouse.com/ourbread
  7. I will do this
  8. The quality of stuff in charity shops is generally quite high and the quality of anything I'm throwing away is generally quite low, so I had assumed charity shops wouldn't want it. Perhaps I should sort it again. The BHP shop on the Old Kent Road took away more than a dozen bags of clothing when my husband died but that was relatively good stuff. DKHB I looked up Tvind on Wikipaedia, thanks for the reference.
  9. I cheered up greatly when I learned about the bank at the Plough, but it is full. I went and checked this evening. Indeed people have put clothing on top of the bin because they cannot get it in,
  10. the two clothing banks beside the mini-supermarket at the junction of Upland Road and Hindmans Road have disappeared. Are there any remaining, locally, and where are they? Within a couple of streets of the Rye for preference
  11. Crystals Chemist in Nunhead do walk-ins
  12. https://www.railengineer.co.uk/crowds-capacity-and-clapham-junction/ Re PR Station has 7 million passengers per year Clapham junction has 430,000 passengers a day. I'm in favour of two-way buses with wider pavements to slow the buses down.
  13. Virgin is telling me that if i cannot connect, to turn off my modem for 60 seconds and then try again. I've only just got that mail. I was warned about upgrading and conseqential problems on the 18th but I was going away then and didn't care. I came back today. So (if I had been here) I may have had problems from the 18th to now
  14. After Covid, lockdown and other mishaps, Community Speedwatch is staggering back on the road. There's a new guy in charge from the Met called Christopher Billington [email protected]. He's trying to get in touch with all the regular volunteers and find some new ones. I wrote this https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/66-in-a-20mph-zone/ blog post on Speedwatch a long time ago now but it gives you an idea. If you know a particularly dangerous spot then let Mr Billington know and he will check it out and (if he agrees it's dangerous) then he'll organise a Speedwatch session there. To volunteer, mail him (see above) with details of your wishes and availability. Give it a try. It's fun. For more det ails DM me or text 07543 842160
  15. There's a big one on Queens Road quite close to central Peckham. It's got a front office where you can walk in and report ask after lost belongings etc
  16. Cafe G on Peckham Rye has air conditioning
  17. The Plough junction is open. The temporary lights still there but the roads are open. No sign of police
  18. Is it closed at the Plough? Is the crossing still open from Barry Road?
  19. I'm told the Met want to restart CRW (AKA Speedwatch) but they can't access the database of volunteers. I don't know why this is. So, to carry on being involved (or get involved for the first time) please email [email protected] and [email protected]. Tell them it's OK to use your email address for CRW. Sally
  20. Book swap box corner of Etherow Rd and Friern Rd

I'm not sure how much input the council has over the Harris academy in Peckham. It describes itself as "an education charity run by teachers" and has 31 schools in London and Essex https://www.harrisfederation.org.uk/80/welcome-from-the-chief-executive
  23. https://get-information-schools.service.gov.uk/Establishments/Establishment/Details/100851 Southwark Obviously a Catholic school (primary) Large, very desirable building in dreadful spot.
  24. Does your mate have any tips for putting off cats which are using his garden as a litter tray? Perhaps between the foxes and the wee he doesn't have this problem?
  25. Babies are about the same size as a buck rabbit with less ability to defend themselves. So be careful etc
