  1. Panther, IF my Aunt had bollocks she'd be my Uncle. You can substitute whatever group you want and then read into it whatever you want. When you've finished doing that I'd suggest you go back to checking the Daily Mail for syntax and grammar errors. It seems that around certain topics, people are so hypersensitive, that it make's it impossible for others outside the 'group' to ask or enquire without being accused of being something based purely on some sort of self centred distorted view of the world around them. I'd have had more respect for cazyr if she hadn't resorted to personal attacks on anybody that questioned her response. I don't give a damn about her (or anybody else's) sexuality and I'm certainly not in favour of some kind of sexual apartheid. Statements like Panthers are typical of somebody whose lonely life revolves around curtain twitching and thinking their neighbours are terrorists because they own 2 mobs. I think this thread perfectly illustrates how different groups of people can become disassociated from the mainstream and end up feeling disenfranchised when in fact it would be better for society as a whole if they were embraced as 'part of' not a 'different part of'. Apply this to race, religion, even football and you will find more examples where groups practice exclusivity and therefore disharmony versus the ones that integrate together and try and understand and respect their differences. Ignorance breeds fear and we know what fear breeds.
  2. I dunno. Depends on the girl. Sometimes it can be quite sexy, especially if the girl has full lips, sultry brown eyes and chews slowly.
  3. Watched the game at the CPT. I have to say it was very chilled and the Guinness was excellent. Nice vibe. I'll be back.
  4. Cazzyr, Please read again s-l-o-w-l-y. I wasn't apologising. I was simply saying I'm sorry that you feel that way and wishing you good luck. As with my original post, just being sincere. I have a McCains oven chip on each shoulder.
  5. When your boy lives in an area where every teenage boy effectively belongs to a gang by default it's not quite that simple to go to the police. The last thing some kid wants to do over the theft of a mob, is to be seen co-operating with the police. There are other ways to settle the score or avoid being a victim. It's not the right way but it's the way it is sometimes.
  6. cazzyr I'm not sure how you managed to deduce that I was somehow comparing gay parents with suicide bombers. When I wrote that, the analogy in my mind was catholics and protestants. Both being Christian and having the same god. Just as gay and hetero people can both be parents yet somehow end up on the opposite side when all they want is the best for their offspring. In other words there are common experiences they can share as well as differences which can bring them together rather than circling in a red magic marker. I'm truly sorry you've taken such offence. I know it must be difficult sometimes and I guess you possibly have your defences up because you naturally expect a bit of stick. Good luck with finding a group that works for you.
  7. Because they'll nick the more expensive ipod instead! Seriously though, my eldest has been robbed like this on a few occasions too. Mostly around Forest Hill but once in Herne Hill too. It's a fact of life in a city for boys between the ages of 12 and 16. As a result he's learnt to anticipate a potentially dangerous situation and think twice about what he carries and where. It's hardly worth reporting to the police and in one incident where the police did get involved (because a friends house was robbed) we had 10 threatening youths aged 14 to 20 on our doorstep.
  8. of course not ;-)
  9. nice trellis
  10. When you say it works, did you achieve a vastly higher price than selling in the normal way or that the agents accepted your fee proposal (presumably made after the valuation)? Just curious and no I'm not agentphobic.
  11. *Joins in* Can't be accused of being ED-Fobic!
  12. Well that supports the road death statistcs in SA! I used to own a MkII. Not the Lotus badged one but I used it like it was. Even got me to Cornwall and back on 3 cylinders.
  13. Given your statement above I would have thought an insect shaped 'Peoples Car' or a late 1960's Fiat 500 would be more in order.
  14. Doesn't sound fair to me. If the bed wasn't there at the end of the tenancy would that also mean it couldn't be deducted from the tenants deposit? You can't have it both ways.
  15. Well that's three of us. I'll be right behind you.
  16. I can assure you I'm not homophobic and it was a genuine interest. I can also understand the prickly reaction. There are a lot of ignorant people (like me) out there. I'm not asking you to defend or justify yourself. What I was trying to understand was whether it was an exclusive group since you can join a gay group but I assume a hetero wouldn't be welcome to your group. We can all look at ourselves and say well I belong to this group and not that group. Because of my background I often feel I don't belong to any group but then again I don't want to wear a badge saying I'm different. I like to meet people and get to know them regardless as opposed to exclusively because of culture, sexuality, religion and opinions, and wouldn't count them out because they're not like me (thankfully).
  17. Not sure how you read this thread as being homophobic. Perhaps a slight over reaction but thanks for filling in some of my ignorance.
  18. I think they've nailed down the furniture. It's cheaper.
  19. Perhaps that could be a little revenue earner. ?5 a day for commuters? Have a look at the side streets of LL mostly ending in Grove.
  20. Do your feet crunch the broken glass as you duck the flying furniture?
  21. Such as, apart from being gay? Do the children get brought up differently? A female friend of mine who has young children and was originally in a hetero relationship has now come out and set up home with her partner. As far as I know she still continues to integrate as before with new partner, kids and friends. I just wonder if by being exclusive does this feed peoples ignorance and set up divisions in society when we should be encouraging people to embrace our differences? Or should it be considered like a religion where people celebrate the same god in a different way and practice a similar moral code and then go out and kill each other?
  22. But when the car is in use the space in front of the house becomes free for another car unlike someone's front garden which you wouldn't want to block.
  23. Well if it was something truly inspired like Alastair Little or Giorgio Locatelli I'd be there like a shot. I fear you might be right though. Bella Pasta, Sbarro? Yuk!
  24. I don't mean to sound ignorant (here goes) but can you also join in with hetero groups and do fun things together or does that not work if you're gay parents? If it doesn't work is it because the hetero group does not accept you or because you prefer to stick with like? Sorry, just curious!
  25. If they show the Chelsea game I might go up there tonight. Anyone know?
