  1. With you there on the main ingredient MM. However, your sisters test could explain why guitarists under cook steaks.
  2. Unfortunately most flat conversions are rubbish when it comes to noise insulation between floors. Even if done according to legal guidelines the cavity between ceiling and floor is still not enough to properly absorb noise especially in old Victorian houses. Bare wooden floors or newly laid laminate only multiplies the problem. It is sometimes worth checking the freehold lease as some contracts specify that upper floors must be carpeted. The only other option is to report the family to the Services, for beating their kids and have them taken into care.
  3. Brendan you could say that about 90% of what we're fed in most of the mainstream news across all media types. But I suspect you know the answer to that. We just can't cope with more depressing England cricket news. Is it just me or does Heather look more attractive now that she's ?24.3m richer? Perhaps it's the new carbon fibre prosthetic.
  4. How did I forget to include Sprouts to my heaven list, though they're probably in most peoples Marmite category. Sprouts al dente with good olive oil, some roughly chopped parsley and freshly grated Parmeggiano. Sprouts are so versatile. Great cold in a sandwich or try a Sprout and Ricotta pasta with a few flecks of chilli. Annasfield, I wont go into the ethical debate re greenhouse gases ;-) but you are so right about the Lobster. Reminds me too of that great fish restaurant in Kennington, the Lobster Pot
  5. Very true. I can still savour the flavour but they are a distant memory!
  6. Try roast chicken marinated in peanut butter and Coca-Cola. My favourite sandwich combination is: Two slices of fresh crusty white bread thickly buttered Peanut butter on one Strawberry jam on the other Layer of mature cheddar cheese Layer of salt and vinegar crisps Layer of crispy bacon still warm I can see the pearly gates . . .
  7. Had a chocolate and chilli profiterole volcano as a wedding cake.
  8. Sometimes you just have to experiment. When I saw it on the menu as a starter I tried it out of curiosity and couldn't believe how good it was. The potato was golden and crisp on the outside and the fois gras just melted like butter. The drizzle of dark chocolate sauce was perhaps a little over indulgent but surprisingly good and since it was a bitter sweet note, not sickly at all.
  9. Well perhaps we could sponsor you to eat a 18" pizza with all of that as a topping for a deserving charity. Washed down with a heavenly beer of course.
  10. Heaven My Dad's Chicken Curry and Roti Fresh Lobster and home made mayonnaise Fois Gras in deep fried potato balls with chocolate sauce drizzled over the top Hell Tongue Pickled Onions Soft bacon with a thick rind

    a joke

Not really a joke, more a cheeky pastche
  13. I think I know what Maximay's problem is. There's groups for gay and single parents, black/asian mothers, disabled parents and parents of parents. However the group for single parents not getting a shag has suddenly seen a 50% drop in membership. Nice one CWALD ;-)
  14. I don't know ehat you're talking about mightyroar but you may have convinced Mrs LL to sign up to the EDF! (Once she scrapes of the breakfast she's wearing and extracts the toy embedded in her foot)
  15. If they own the freehold then they will be adding balance sheet value through capital growth. Far more profitable in the longer run when they come to sell the business, lock, stock and barrel.
  16. Slashed Trees & Bodies Most of those woods were cleared by settling tribes -evidence on the Hill led to the discovery of a Bronze-age burial mound (built around 4,000 years ago, and visible until the 1950s). Click on the map
  17. There's a Bronze Age Burial mound near the top (Library End) of Lordship Lane.
  18. Just landed on my doorstep. Mutherf*cker!
  19. Is it the same chords as Smoke on the water?
  20. My wife and I have an unwritten understanding that if either one of us is horrendously incapacitated, both physically and mentally, then one would humanely assist the other out. Trouble is, I'm not sure if I could actually do it in reality, ffor fear of making things worse and creating more suffering. I think I'd prefer the help of someone understanding in the profession. This debate reminds me that some animals will kill their brood rather than let another predator get to them. Also the story of Keyser S?ze in The Usual Suspects. Hungarian gangsters invade his house while he is away, raping his wife and holding his children hostage. When S?ze arrives they kill one of the children to show him that they mean business. They then threaten to kill his wife and remaining children if he does not surrender his business to them. Rather than give in to their demands, and to prevent his loved ones from having to live with the memory of what has happened, he murders his family and all but one of the Hungarians, whom he spares knowing that the survivor would tell the mafia what has transpired.
  21. Hopefully my UK version of series 4 will arrive today or tomorrow. Some relief for a DVD machine that's been surviving on a diet of Fireman Sam and Bob the Builder since the end of series 3.
  22. My sincere apologies to many of my previous neighbours. Selfishly, I used to be that nutter (not the one on Adys Rd). But in my defence I grew up with noise. Lots of it. Fiery parents and noisy neighbours. We had a 9 strong Irish family with a mother that constantly screamed blue murder on one side and a West Indian family on the other side that held regular drinking/gambling parties with a King Tubby or U-Roy bass line rattling my bedroom window till breakfast time. Everywhere I went everyone was blasting out music and demonstrating the power of their speakers. Not that I minded at that age. When I moved to Ladbroke Grove every floor of our house had a Sound System that pumped out Soul, Funk and Reggae day and night. Useful when a production co. filmed The Bill or The Chinese Detective on our street. We'd get paid to lower the volume, spend it on All Saints Rd and turn it back up again! It wasn't until I bought my first home in Hammersmith (above a deaf 90 year old) and the council served an order on my wardrobe sized speakers that it occurred to me that I should turn it down a bit. I have ever since. Mostly. Sorry.
