Typical ED middle class competition. What's wrong with kneading by hand for 4 hours, proving for three days, taking it to the local bakers to cook, and buttering and slicing the finished article across the breast?
Tony Benn, with whom I share few political ideals, was on the radio this morning - what a fascinating chap. He too said that he thought the Post Office was a social service and a very important part of the community.
Just finished "The Farm" by Richard Benson. Fortunately I didn't notice the Richard & Judy sticker on it - it always makes me put a book back! It charts the life of his dad as a farmer in Yorkshire. Absolutely wonderful read, especially as I'd recently read "Lark Rise to Candleford". Both books highlight the changes in farming and community about a 100 years apart. "The Farm" is a very poignant look at how ignorance and greed and things like CAP have changed the way we farm in Britain. Highly recommended, Richard & Judy notwithstanding.
Ring up the Southwark Noise team. They are quite effective. When I lived in Bermondsey I reported the unacceptable noise during the night from the Hansard printing press and they took measures to have them supress the noise. ed. for poor spelling
It's a bit hard to stop male dogs pissing where they want as it's hardwired into their nature to mark their territory. However, if you train them from puppyhood, you can get them to piss only on command.
I am really sorry but I cannot come tonight. No lift I'm afraid Emily. I hope you find some replacements cos I am v. conscious that we booked 3 courts for tonight. If you don't cover costs, let me know and I'll chip in as this is such a late pull out. I'm up for it next week as usual. Have a good night tonight.
Oh the superiority of age. My dad's collection has The Platters, Gene Vincent, Chuck Berry, etc. Not bad to grow up to! Alas there were a few Tommy Steele's the 50s equivalent to Abba?
