  2. ED Grove looks lovely. There's a flashing speed sign where that Victorian lamppost is and the shops at the bottom are now flats and a used VW garage. And what happened to the properties that lined the upper part of this road? Were they all razed to build those 60s units?
  3. It teaches division, intolerance and fairy stories over science and enlightenment. For 7k/year? I thought we were in the 21st century.
  4. It works down Bellendon way - those replacements look great.
  5. I think it's looking towards LL; you can just make out the three-storey shops next to where the old Co-op used to stand.
  6. No, Dr Who used to scare the shite out of me too. That, and the song 'Born With a Smile on my Face' by Stephanie De Sykes.
  7. The railings look great. It's a shame they were all removed for the war effort, but apparently never used: http://www.christopherlong.co.uk/pri/wareffort.html
  8. Lots of sawdust/sand on the oil spill on the corner. What happened? Someone slowing for a U-turn down Grove Lane?
  9. I'm with HB. Let's take this MoFo on.
  10. Mmmm. He was round a few months ago. Tried the uSwitch fob and was also given the shirty treatment.
  11. Is that from the fire station that was destroyed by a V1 in WWII?
  12. Plus there's the argument against having a megachain barge its way onto LL, opening the floodgates...
  13. Having a McDonalds is like having a cigarette - the smell makes you really, really fancy one, then half way through and especially afterwards, you deeply regret it.
  14. It's called 'The Stealth House': http://www.channel4.com/4homes/microsites/S/stirling_prize/manser_stealthhouse.html
  15. I chop 'em into roughly the shape of the blue bin, and place them on top of the box on recycle day - they always take them.
  16. They're going to have their work cut out next year, when the new road tax system comes in, and anyone driving anything bigger than a 1.4 Golf will have to cough up more.
  17. Dunno, but the trompe-l'?il effect seems to slow drivers down when I drive or walk down there.
  18. If they can't help their behaviour - if it's Tourettes, for example - then perhaps they deserve a bit of sympathy; if they know exactly what they're doing, and are just doing it to wind us locals up, they should be brought to book. I wonder if the council tells them off for not sorting their cans from their bottles?
  19. They're clumsy devices that arguably don't work on the real problem - motorists who charge over them: drivers of company cars and especially vans; stolen or uninsured cars; un-MOTd cars and worst of all: bin lorries; so they're not a solution if your aim is to stop speeders. And they cause loads of pollution, as motorists grind along at high revs in 2nd gear, accelerating away after each bump. Cyclists hate the full width ones because they wreck your wheels; they hate the cushion ones because drivers swerve without warning to straddles them. And to motorcyclists, on a dark night, in the wet, they're lethal.
  20. It's similar to that pre-tram shot you posted. Fascinating.
  21. Yes, the interior of such a fine old building deserves something modern yet sumptuous, like The Wolseley. It's a bit faddish at the mo and probably only looked good when it was brand new.
  22. Been there a couple of times. Good on a balmy summer's eve (i.e. not today), out on the terrace. Food is well-prepared and tasty, if a little try-hard for the 'burbs. No real complaints though. Mrs Kford says the set lunch is a bargain, if you're planning a girly get-together.
  23. It wouldn't make a mark, it's so feeble :(
  24. Where's my .22 BSA Meteor?
