Small amount of salt in cooled boiled water - use separate pieces of cotton wool per eye.

All kids are different and don't think you can always encourage them to play with what are typically classed as gender specific toys. I added a doll to my boys selection of toys when he was about 2 and he refused to play with it - wouldn't even hold it! It eventually went to his niece. He does however have lots of teddies and will create tea parties for them. Neither my husband nor I have any interest in cars but he's infatuated with them and loves to watch F1 racing! Also his first word was wheel. On the flip side he's extremely sensitive and pre school have commented on his concern for other children when they're upset. So I guess if he isn't interested in playing dolls then his caring side can be nurtured in other ways and it doesn't mean he won't have a sensitive nature.

What about a home made sticker chart with reward on achieving a certain amount of stickers as incentive to go to bed nicely, stay in bed or whatever behaviour it is you'd like her to achieve. She gets a sticker in the morning depending on behaviour the night before

These guys are pricey but currently have a sale http://www.isabellaoliver.com/maternity-clothes/uk/100/sale/all.html?viewall=true

I agree the price does seem to have increased quite quickly & the cut isn't always the greatest, however in their defence they didn't charge me a few weeks ago when my 2 year old only let the lady cut one half of his hair and then when I convinced him to go back a week or so later the lady who successfully managed to cut his hair double checked with me that I hadn't been charged the last time.

Think it all depends on personality of child. My boy loves Tumble Tots, it's taught him to climb safely and be adventurous yet safe on park equipment that's possibly for kids above his age. Yet a friend's boy who was much more in to climbing than mine at a younger age found it all too easy and therefore wasn't all that interested.

What can I use to help 15 month old swim?
bumpy replied to chloe11's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Swim Vests get our vote as keeps them warm too (very much needed for our boy at Dulwich pool!) Though they do have to understand the concept of using their hands / legs to keep themselves upright. -

Sol - couldn't agree more - it has to be child led rather than forced. nozchick - The books Everybody Poos, Zoo Poo & Dinosaurs Love Underpants were a real hit in our house -
Any tips re no longer using nappies at night?
bumpy replied to ClareC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My boy's the same age and hasn't had nappies at night since January, 8 months on he sleeps through some nights and others he wakes us up for a wee. On the very odd occasion he wakes up having wet himself. I've heard being dry at night has a lot to due with a hormone called vasopressin?? I guess what I'm saying is that it can vary from week to week, month to month. Sounds like your girl is doing great so far. :) -

My son has been in an amazing nanny share since June 2010 and would agree with all of Bumpkin's thoughts. We were fortunate that the boys we shared with are at school so in the early days our boy got lots of one on one attention during term time but was also very socialised through the use of groups and our nanny meeting up with other nannies or SAHM friends. I know of a couple of people currently looking so will PM you the details.
