  1. What a shame. Such an entertaining player to watch, but he was up against an almost unbeatable serve.
  2. A match is never won til it's won. We can only hope.
  3. When we were young we were beaten if we misbehaved. Growing up was scarey so I didn't want my children to be scared too. There is a happy medium. If mine misbehaved they were threatened with no sweets before bed, being sent to bed early or no TV. It always worked. One look from me and they would do as they were being told rather than receive punishment. Nowadays it's the parents who seem scared. Scared of upsetting their children.
  4. No not joking Otta. I'd never pay anyone to clean my windows. They're OK though. I can still see out of them. ;-)

  6. I haven't watched the early rounds of Wimbledon for years. Usually wait until the last half of 2nd week. Thanks for the heads-up. I think he plays again on Sat so will definitely switch him on!
  7. In the past I've taken mine outside my gate, tipped in a few buckets of very hot soapy water, then tipped it out over the drain. If you then leave the lid open until it dries out, smells nice and it's free.

From what I've seen it will be the opposite. One poster needs to be banned. I can't believe that admin continually turn a blind eye to constant verbal abuse and nastiness. If I were you Foxy, I'd stay out of it and enjoy being as far away as possible.
  9. P.S. Thanks for telling me how to post a video. Finally got around to doing it! :)
  10. Summer In The City? Are you an ex-hippy RD? Love that one. Love this too.

  12. If you are relaxing on the beach or beside the pool with endless supplies of wine and you feel like having a chat, what is wrong with posting on the forum? Not everyone uses it because they're bored, some actually enjoy talking to others on here.

  14. So sitting outside an ED pub at lunchtime, having a child on a scooter whizzing between the tables irritating you is OK is it? Are pubs playgrounds now? When I was young we weren't allowed in pubs so had to put up with a coke & a bag of crisps in a 'children's room'. And it was such a treat. When my children were young and we occasionally went out to eat, I never allowed them to even leave the table. They sat, ate, drunk, went home. Simple. Everyone happy.

Thought it might be something humorous or you'd posted on the wrong thread! Isn't this numbers game only for people with nothing better to do? Maybe I should play. Aug 8th when I'll have more to think about is ages away :)

It takes guts to even admit that you are in the wrong. Posters that see it & rectify it with an apology are amazing, because most don't. And as I always say to everyone, 'think' before you post.
  17. Wow! Just watched it. So cool. You can understand why some don't want to move on from the dark ages. Life was worth living back then. ETA: I was referring to your link Quids. Wouldn't want people to miss out on seeing how wonderful it used to be.

Very laddish / beer > oriented. All a bit nuts-and-bolts, not enough > weird stuff. Terrible choice of fonts.. It just shows how different the 80's were from the 90's. The Reading vibe was good back then. It was still safe enough to leave things in tents, you were allowed to take in (supermarket) trolleys full of alcohol, the music was great but everything was more civilised. I do kind of like the home comfort of having amenities. Made me feel better knowing that there were proper flushing toilets, showers & hot water at Reading, but the same year at Glastonbury, the water consisted of one cold tap in the middle of a bog and toilets so unusable, people were heading out to the woods with a shovel!
  19. steveo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Do all those white middle aged tossers really like > Kanye West? I think they would prefer Hawkwind & Roy Harper, wishing it was 1981. I only went once, tried Reading, preferred it so went there instead. Reading was fab. Not so bohemian as Glastonbury, but more civilised. Were any of you mature festival goers there in the eighties?
  20. So obviously a big difference between 1981 & 1992. Dread to think what it's like now. It used to be called a pop festival. So relaxing. The only bad thing was running out of weed! So you would go to the tent/caravan next door and they would be happy to share. Everybody was just so nice back then.
  21. Just looked. It was 1981. Were you there too? Wow. We could've been neighbours in the field!
  22. When you used to go to Glastonbury in the old days: It wasn't about the acts being on TV. The main acts didn't need to be on TV. TV & Glastonbury didn't mix because neither had anything to prove. And of course it wasn't about money back then. And wasn't it how a pop festival should be? You could leave all your possessions in your tent, knowing they were safe because nobody would ever dream of stealing. It was all about love, peace, respect. People cared about each other. The women walked around topless, the guys never even noticed. Everyone was too stoned, too drunk to care. Because you didn't have to. Everyone loved everyone and wouldn't dream of hurting. And it was about being yourself. Then commercialism took over. End of. Those were the days.
