I haven't missed the point. *Bob* was taking the p*ss as usual, implying that it's worth paying ?12.50 so as not to be attacked in Peckham. And does that make the OP feel better about visiting the cinema in Rye Lane instead? I doubt it. My point was, that things can happen anywhere if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time, even in ED. Luckily there has never been a wrong time for me in Peckham, so I've never found it dangerous and feel safe walking around. If I wanted to go to the pictures, that's where I'd go. As others said, it's great to have the facility in ED, but not so great for those who can't afford it.
  2. Don't be silly *Bob*. It's not dangerous to walk in Peckham. Things happen everywhere. Even ED.
  3. NewWave, I so agree with you. mark88, very courageous of you to post here and what NewWave said, stay strong and God bless x rahrahrah, you did the right thing. It was nice of you to remove the posts.
  4. I enjoyed it Otta, so give it a go on iplayer. Don't get too excited as there are only 2 episodes so it ends next week (thurs 9pm BBC2)
  5. Did anything significant happen in the first half? I agree the 2nd half was good and easy to pick up but I wondered why Gemma Chan wasn't behaving! Might watch it online unless someone can enlighten me.
  6. What a heartless post. Unbelievable. If you bothered to read the post by mark88 properly you would know that he isn't recovering at all. But you are obviously too busy bickering with Loz & talking politics (yet again) I feel so sorry for you mark88. I do agree with you about the NHS and am pleased that you've been happy with the treatment you received.
  7. Thanks ed pete. I'll look into it.
  8. Is this one of those things where you have to have a BT phoneline?
  9. Library? Never. It's a pub! There are enough pubs closing down already. Otta, you sound a bit sad lately. Cheer up. Keep smiling :)
  10. I'm kind of 50/50 here. I used to love the traditional pub. No food, all drinking, all dart playing. (I was good at both!) But nowadays I really hate restaurants. They are either too expensive or un-relaxed. Waiters that jump to attention when you move a muscle, are waiting to pounce before you've had time to look at the menu and want to kick you out as soon as the last mouthful has gone. Gastro pubs? You can sit where you like, order food when you like,........carry on drinking....................................no pressure..................leave when you like. That's the difference.
  11. I can't afford/don't have time to organise trips to the pub Foxy. I just want to be able to watch indoors on the rare occasions that I want to. But it looks like nowadays you have to subscribe to the whole lot or nothing :(
  12. So confused about this. I can't ever watch premier league matches live because I don't have Sky or BT. Plus I don't even want to watch half of them and paying an unaffordable ?90 per month is impossible. What I would love to do is just be able to pay to watch individual matches. Can you do this with NOW TV? If not, are there any other pay-per-view channels still available?
  13. root, Just because you don't believe in something, don't belittle those that do. As for the 'mind over matter' comment you made, I can assure you it works, otherwise I might not be here now. If you were a regular poster and I knew you, I'd be able to prove it by going into more detail. But I don't, so I won't. If you personally haven't experienced something yet, doesn't mean it won't happen, so why not keep an open mind? In case it does.
  14. Is he related to Scribe? If so, I'd be happy to meet him at a shooting gallery. I'm a better shot than I was back then.

  16. They saved my life. That's pretty special.
  17. Kitchen 54 is fab. They do a good veggie breakfast hash and an amazing mushroom & avocado sub. I've not tried their waffles because the subs are quite filling, but they look delicious. I'm pleased that more people are getting to know about them because the few times I've been in there at lunch time, they've been empty. The location isn't that good but it's well worth a visit.
  18. What do you both mean by passive aggressive? No I didn't see Otta! What did you do?!
  19. I started this thread for a reason: I'm praising a particular group because I like them. They are the nicest people on the EDF and deserve to be told so. Some can be annoying because they make a simple comment, know that they might be lighting a fuse, and mayhem follows. Then there are the ones that bear the brunt of the unpleasant comments. Some, a lot of the time. Others, occasionally. If they are having a bad day or are feeling down, only to receive nasty, snide comments when they decide to visit the forum, that is hardly going to make them feel better is it? If people can quite happily do this to others, I wouldn't want to know them in the real world. And the rude ones? Well sometimes it's easier to pretend they haven't seen a post, but if someone asked them a question face to face, they would answer - not ignore. I'm sure others find this frustrating. So I started this to make people think. Just thinking before you post can make such a difference, especially if you are just about to upset somebody with your next comment. Everybody here has feelings. I can hold my own/give as good as I get during a discussion/difference of opinion but I did make a thoughtless, uncalled-for remark once which has now been deleted because it's nothing to be proud of. Yes, I could easily put names into groups (as suggested), but that isn't going to happen. After reading regulars posts on a daily basis for 5 years, I do have quite a good idea about the person behind the username. I know others do too. Most will know what group/groups they fall into. Some won't care. Some will. It takes all sorts to make a forum! And if this thread makes me sanctimonious, so be it. I would sooner be that, than bury my head in the sand and turn a blind eye. If I feel that something needs saying to make things better, I say it. End of. Feel the love :)

  21. Sherry AM? No, I haven't touched that since I was about 15 and raided my dads drink cabinet! What I meant was that I'm so used to BBC, the presenters, commentators etc. When the world cup games were being shown on ITV, they weren't as good. And during half time they spoke about the game, interviewed, kept it so interesting that you were all wound up and excited about the second half. A bit like Match Of The Day without any adverts! But it was a good game. Shame about the result though.
  22. This kind of match is so not the same on ITV. You could lose interest in half time and switch over.

Whether you agree with something or not, it's HOW you say things. If you disagree, show a bit of empathy and humanity and THINK............... About how your post might affect others.
