I am very sorry to hear that but how was I supposed to know that? Your sarcasm is unwarranted. -

It's very easy to look over your shoulder while wearing a seat belt CS...try it. Seat belts are not straight jackets. -

And for the car to lose the bicycle from the wing mirror, it must have been moving away from the kerb in order to make the turn. The driver 'assumed' there was nothing inside of the car. Whichever way you look at it the driver is at fault. -

So you look over your shoulder and check the blind spot before you turn/ change lane etc - that is a basic driving skill ignored by many drivers and the cause of countless lane changing and turning collisions. -
I would say yes. That's what tended to happen in the big brother house.

Feeding two though is I guess easier than feeding one. The chicken would blow one persons budget. But just for the exercise of doing it....I will see tm what I can get for a fiver to feed me for five days.

New 24/7 alcohol licence proposed 43 Grove Vale

It is legal. I remember when they applied for the licence after being ticked off for selling alcohol illegal out of hours. -

X posted.... Yes Ramble.....cyclists need to be aware of possible dangers too but I'm guessing the cyclist didn't really have time to correct his/ her positioning. It's also possible the the bicycle came to be in an undertaking position because the car slowed at the last moment to make the left turn. We are talking about a split second thing over a couple of metres. The car driver should have been aware there was a cyclist close by long before the left turn. -

I think you'll find that if a driver doesn't check blind spots before every manouvre they'll fail a driving test. There's no defence on that. Driving does require attention at all times to everything going on around you (and that's true for all road users). Most accidents happen because drivers are not paying attention - they are poor drivers. -

Plus there are already schemes in existence, such as 'payback' and of course community service that do send offenders to work. The problem is that we have three million and more unemployed in this country......so are not short of man-power. -

There's a 24 hour off-licence opposite kebab and wine at the Grove Vale end of Lordship Lane. There is another one at the Peckham Rye corner of East Dulwich Road. -

Another question to ask though is if she was indicating to turn left. On a bicyle you are always going to be to the under side of vehicles and will always be undertaking if traffic is moving slow. Drivers can not use the blind spot as defense. The onus in on the driver to check blind spots before any manouvre. If she had done that before turning left (as indeed I always do when driving) she would have seen the cyclist. Imo the driver is absolutely at fault. -
I could make a fire from wood foraged (not hard to find in this area) and water could either be collected from rain or a river. You don't need much water to cook vegetables anyway. Also, every day, supermarkets have food at the edge of it's sell by date for sale. So things could be picked up there. I totally agree, to have to do that for more than a few days is not going to be any fun, or keep you healthy.....and there are people who already are living close to that poverty line in the UK.....ask any of the many food charities that operate to give food to people in the UK. And as Alec points out.....there a far too many accross the world going hungry, when they don't need to - because the globe does produce enough food.....and we throw tons of it away (that's another issue).

I was in the supermarket today and saw that for a pound I could buy a apck of stew vegetables. The pack contained a carrot, a small turnip, two potatoes and a leek. From that I could make enough soup to feed me for a day and would probably feel quite full. But then I'm a small woman. So there is also that to consider. Some people need to eat more than others.

Sainsburry's did sell alcohol 24/7 and I don't think there were really any problems apart for the security guards and attempted shop lifting. The thing to remember as well, is that licenses can be taken away as easily as they are granted. There are several shops in the area with 24 hour alcohol licenses and there aren't massive anti-social behaviour issues as a result. Shops just aren't magnets for that, unlike bars and clubs. -

It's a pity the police weren't called (although you can still report it after the event). I had a similar accident but fortunately that driver did keep her promise to pay for repairs to my bike and was totally decent. It might be worth checking to see if any nearby buildings have cctv pointing towards the roundabout too. Also was there damage to her car? That would help to prove your position in relation to her as she turned. -
I think many people in this country are living on close that amount a day for food. It's a myth than no-one starves on benefits in the UK. If I were living on lentils and rice I could probably do it but wouldn't expect to feel very well mentally or physically as a result.

People who want to buy alcohol after 2am have several places they can already do that within walking distance of Grove Vale. Having another outlet for that will make hardly any difference to what already exists. Irresponsible drinkers have always existed and they are a minority of those who drink. Denying this license application will not have any effect on that and under the existing rules for objecting to licence applications I can not see any grounds for refusal (also indictated by lack of representation by the Police and trading Standards who see no problem with the application). Where problems do occur with licensed premises, it is usually premises where people congregrate in groups (i.e. bars, clubs etc). Also with regards to Kebab and Wine James. It breaches it's license every weekend which if I remember correctly, only licenses the sale of alcohol until 1 am. -
Hmmmm I see a bit of Jekyl and Hyde going on here......Laddy/Lady - just stay away from hub caps ;-)

Give it a rest James. Just because three coucillors (like many councillors before them eslewhere and from ALL parties) are corrupt doesn't mean that the entire Labour council of southwark are corrupt (because that's clearly what you are trying to demonstrate). The Lib Dem coalition had EIGHT years to convince borough voters that they were the best council for the borough and failed. Voters may have the same opinion of the Labour council at the end of four or eight years too but for now...with regards to local councillors, let's stick to the things that matter....the decisions that are going to be made regarding cuts and the services that need improvement.
