A lot of these tasks are simple and straightforward and the idea that cash in hand is publically asked for on here...? I seriously don't think we should be encouraging potential tax avoidance in this way - not as though customers are even getting a cut price deal! One to avoid.
  2. Ironic - not sure what you mean as per. I certainly don't want to open something that may damage my software.
  3. What's happening with these posts. Lots of these seemingly posted in the early hours but all blocked - is that just a glitch?
  4. They were handing out free packets of pastries to everyone earlier - yum!

Maybe feeding a troll here but can't actually see what your point is? If it's the progress of any work you're worried about there are other ways of finding out. If you are connected with the pub why are you posting on here?

Agree many should go but then they won't be around to take the wrap for the undoubtedly awful consequences. Another reason for not understanding why Corbyn is so keen for a General Election - who would want to have to mop up all of that?

Many thanks but none involving you. I imagine most people find you very annoying.

Malumbu - big yawn yet again...

Agree mostly. Still depressing tho that we have 2 Brexit parties and no proper opposition on it.
  11. That would indeed be easier! But what happens if you get challenged by neighbours?

    Noisy builders

Yes indeed it can be very tricky. We are about to embark on subsidence related work so will try to get off to a better start by notifying neighbours in advance and then monitoring noise levels as best we can.

    Thanks - it's a good resolution.

    Noisy builders

All sorted - the overseeing company came round, apologised, identified training needs & brought chocolates. The actual contractor has just been and gave the right sort of apology & took my number to give advance notice of extra loud anticipated work - so all well.

Harm - you might need to explain that??

    Noisy builders

Well they were supposed to call in at 8 to discuss and I rearranged 2 things to accommodate - nothing so far so I'm already annoyed again...

    Noisy builders

I've had a response from the company overseeing the work who have said that they're sorry for the stress caused and that the issues rauised will be dealt with in the appropriate manner. Personally I feel that this isn't very transparent and surely an apology from the actual contractor is the basic first step?

    Noisy builders

Thanks so much for the advice. At 3pm I went next door to complain that I couldn't work at home and it went steadily downhill from there - an aggressive builder shouting over me saying he didn't care about times and that he had to complete a cabling job at any cost. Laughed in my face when I said I was going to complain to the housing association and Southwark, started mocking me and finally slammed the front door right in my face and told me to clear off. I was shaking with shock and anger. I had managed to record him and take a picture so shouted through the door to warn him I had done this and would provide it as evidence and within five minutes they had packed up and left. I managed to get his registration number too. Now written to everyone on the board of the housing association. Still shaking at the types that are out there.
  20. I know this issue has cropped up on here before but can anyone advise on the hours that builders can work? We have a team of roofers working on the housing association house next door and they work roughly 8-4 each day but have been here since 8 today and the combination of drilling, crashing, shouting and radio blaring is hard to deal with. Anyone know?

We are contractually obliged to pay our debts as Philip Hammond has been at pains to point out all along the way. Our reputation, such as it is, would be further sullied if we left without paying. Who would trade with us in future if that were the case?
  22. What I've discovered today is that if you ask for a reduction on your bill and get it Virgin put you on a new 12 month contract so that if you threaten to leave you have to pay various amounts til the contract ends. Don't know if that's a new thing in view of the apparently high number of customers threatening to leave?
  23. Phew - might be more sensible!
