Southwark like other Councils clearly don't make a fortune and are forced to look at other income streams. Maybe some of those fines should be introduced - urinating in the street maybe more than a fine . -

Goose Green councillors - how can we help?
cella replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi James I've a massive exchange of emails with various Southwark staff about susscribing and then not getting a food waste bin to no avail. Each time someone different picks up the message, gives it a different job number and then nothing happens. Recently they've actually managed to remove both my blue recycling boxes despite me stating each time I did not want this to happen. We now only have one blue bin for both our flats. I've included Richard Livingston in several of my messages and he doesn't respond. Ive written to Caroline Bruce at the beginning of the week, copied to Peter John - nothing, not even an acknowledgement. Apart from the basic request which was checking on why the food waste bin hadn't been provided despite paying up, I think it's absolutely cynical and unprofessional for these people not to account to residents. Is there any way this can be resolved - the bin I mean, as I guess the accountability is a lost cause? -

Billy installed a new boiler and radiators this week. He was efficient, helpful and courteous over the 3 day installation. A professional and reasonably priced service. -

Yes! Have spotted Iain Glenn and also Owen Teale queuing together! Everyone I've said it to has asked what was in their trolleys!

I'm out. I wasn't going respond to this but I have to take issue with your language here. You have raised mental health issues previously and also in this post. I have always felt it necessary, like others, to challenge the content of your posts where appropriate and here it is really inappropriate, in my opinion, to refer to mental health in the way that you have.

I think if you read his posting, Admin was addressing the comments on here from a variet of posters and of those, Sue and I have responded. Whilst it's true Louisa many on here continue to challenge your views imo rather than trolling you I personally can't recall commenting on any of your postings. I also don't understand your earlier comment. VB I would refer you again to your other thread and suggest you read what has actually been said and what we were responding to. I haven't responded to your last few postings and in the spirit of raising standards you may wish join us in adopting a more mindful way of communicating.

We can't know that. It would probably be a non workable coalition as mentioned further back on here. I'm not sure why die hard (presumably Brexit supporting) Tories would support either of those two parties. Remain Tories as a one off in the recent EU yes. The ones you refer to would be more likely to go to Farage.
-
Except that we are not necessarily getting the government and prime minister we want or deserve as there is no GE planned. The Conservatives are putting Party before country again imo and very probably putting an ill equipped person into the highest office. The electorate will have had no say in that process.

There are many committed, hardworking politicians at local and national level. Brexit has polarised us as a country and some are now more inclined to lump all elected representatives in together.

Not sure if you read the discussion earlier today but I'll leave it to others to decide.
-
Not sure these last two posts are in the spirit of earlier discussions today?
-
Not sure JC would be a disaster as PM - the difficult thing would be to win outright a GE - not sure anyone can. The worse outcome would be a coalition with Labour/Tories/Farage as nothing would get done. Also not sure what the position of the Brexit Party would be if Brexit ever actually happened - no other policies on anything.

I echo Sue's well phrased comments above. I agree it's easy to get fired up by threads on here sometimes. However it would be difficult, in my personal view to ignore some "challenging" posts and it wouldn't be right, again in my view, to give free rein to some views. However, I take the point that it's probably better to be mindful of questioning the comments rather than attacking the poster on occasion. I'm left unsure though what the red lines are as it feels like some exchanges on the EDF continue unabated and others, if enough protesters seemingly complain privately to Admin, are deleted.

I've seen fresh turmeric on a couple of the stalls along Rye Lane but can't remember which ones unfortunately.

It does seem a little dated. I guess it's possible to be retro without being Victorian maybe.

It's very easy to thank people who support you - less easy for you to own your dodgy posts. Think you said yourself someone you know had suggested privately about a perception by some that you are in any way connected to the shop owner so you might want to think again on that one. Maybe just give some thought as to whether any posts are offensive/judgy/classist etc before you say you don't think that's important.

This is a public forum and people are entitled to have differing views. It exists for locals to voice their opinions on a range of issues which are then up for debate. So if you post then maybe expect some challenge or indeed support but if posts are presented in what some consider to be racist, homophobic, mysoginistic etc then definitely expect to be challenged.

It's not so much the advert but the insistence that time is running out for residents when actually the whole service has not been rolled out effectively!
